Moral Delimmas

I have a quarter of a bottle of Karo Dark Syrup. I have been searching for a recipe to use it up, as my frugal instincts insist it should be used, but the more recipes I read, the more my healthy instincts freak out. Why the fuck would you add a cup of sugar to a cup of Karo anyway??

I'm thinking I bin this one, or else start making gingerbread with Karo substituting golden syrup.

More and more I am turned away by all of the nasty food out there!!

I have just ordered that toxic household book that Em mentioned. That should be both interesting and scary.

which book again?

I'd be very tempted to simply let the Karo go. I've still got half a litre of sugar syrup I've had for the last six weeks that I'm trying to find a use for. I have to buckle up and throw it down the sink as well.

The only time I've used sugar syrup is in iced tea. Mind you this was iced tea in Japan which came unsweetened and you added sugar syrup afterwards.

It's the leftovers from making limoncello.

Poach peaches or nectarines in the sugar syrup? (yum...)

I've only ever bought Karo for a pecan pie, ages ago... and I think I ended up throwing out the bottle, since I didn't make it again (too lazy) and it just got old. There's 'moral dilemma', and then there's 'ew gross' ... :)

Studies have suggested that high-fructose corn syrup contributes to diabetes far more than cane sugar or honey.

I'd redefine it as health hazard rather than food, and let it go...

Alternately, would it enrich your compost heap? ^_^

Oh, I won't eat it
I'm no-carbing LOL

Chuck it, I reckon - if your body is saying 'no thanks, don't need this right now' then don't argue.

:)

Hee, I wouldn't be eating it - every one else would!
:-)
But I am definitely thinking ditching is the way to go. Yay!

I vote ditching it :P

I vote anzacs, and give 'em away. The Warm Fuzzies people will feel from being given cookies will be worth it.
