General Update

Vinnie is still sick, and a complete little snot monster, poor thing. He hates me wiping his nose every five minutes, but I hate him trying to blow bubbles in the snot more. I hate my life sometimes, but that's OK. I'm sad I had to miss out on today's planned fun, and Monday's planned fun, and thankfully right now I have no life so there is no other planned fun to miss out on.

Hopefully all my planned fun can be planned again, next week, or at least when sproglet is not dripping snot all the time. He's coughing less at night, so hopefully he is sleeping better. He's in good spirits for the most part, though this afternoon he was very cuddly, which happens so rarely that I think my brain popped. Usually I have problems dealing with this as I am not a touchy feely person, but today I was reading a Pratchet book, so when Vinnie needed love I put him on my knee, and sometimes read bits of it to him.

Highlights: a few thousand words of novel. It's been a long time since I worked on it - since the 8th of March. A very long time for one who is as patient as I when it comes to these things. Usually I just don't have the time or the energy - the time Iused to write was when Vinnie was asleep, but these days I am napping too. And last night we went to Mum's for dinner, and Mum and Dad helped me to finish cleaning during the day, so after we got home and vinnie was in bed, I found I had enough energy to get into it again! Yay!

Lowlights: Just general tired and sick and sad. Not as sick as I have beem, hence the lack of whining posts every few hours, but just off kilter sick. Keeping food very plain right now, and drinking like a horse. OJ, Milk, Water, Cordial, lemonade, tea, coffee, ginger beer...soooo bloooody thiiiiiirsty all the fricking time. I feel down, but not massively down like last week? A few days ago? Earlier, at any rate. Wearing my new pretty dress because I was hoping to get out today, but it didn't happen.
:-(

watch the being thirsty thing - if it goes on for like a week, you should get it checked out

[identity profile] callistra.livejournal.com 2007-04-19 01:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmmm, gestational diabetes...
I had a battery of tests a week or two ago, and that's one of the things they check for. But will do.

[identity profile] girliejones.livejournal.com 2007-04-19 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
well if they tested you a week or two ago ...

[identity profile] callistra.livejournal.com 2007-04-20 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
They test you every time you see a midwife or a dr.

*cuddles*

I am home tomorrow night - let me know if I can help in any way - even coming and bringing beverages of all colour and type :)

You know i am serious right?

Any time, any where :)

[identity profile] callistra.livejournal.com 2007-04-24 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Goodness! Can I keep you in credit until I'm too big to move? At this rate, months 6 - 9??
:-)

Good thing I have stretchy underwear.
:-)

Yep - credit is fine :)

You can even earn Frequent Flyer points (:

*double hugs*

sorry to hear that you are still feeling yuck.

piece of random advice: something I got shown when I had middle child in hospital with bronchiolitis is that you get a tube of sterile saline solution (our local chemist sells them for about 70c each) and drip it up the child's nose (I do this with child on lap, or lying on bed) - just a couple of drops every now and then, which helps to clear out the nose. I don't always remember, but it does help.

pharmacies also sell special squeezy bottle things that are supposed to help with clearing out little noses, but I can't remember what it was called. I only used ours a time or two, but it was good on those occasions.

and I'd be in on some planned fun. I had grand plans of going to the zoo this week, which somehow fell in a hole. Would be interested in doing it one afternoon, but I have to work out what our post school activities are (still need to sort out basketball, which I think I've been saying for weeks!)

oh, and Yay! on the getting some writing done!

Ok, zoo trip.....What about the week after next week? Pick a day between May the 7th - May the 12th (but not the Tuesday, that's ultrasound day) and we'll get a bit of a group going.

We'll do a picnic thing.

sorry to fail miserably on getting back to you about this. I'm finding anything that takes energy a bit too hard to organise. Maybe try and organise without me? (now that youngest swimming lesson is at 11:30 rather than 9:00, I'm struggling to get much else done on a monday)

[identity profile] callistra.livejournal.com 2007-05-13 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
No no, don't apologize. Seriously, no one is running at full tilt right now, and I was running at more than 10% and wanted to go, it would have been a done deal by now.

Don't stress. I'm worried about this winter, actually. It seems to be hitting all my female friends really really hard, and we're still in autumn.
:-(

I've been thinking of you the last week!

Sorry to hear that the boy is ill:-( and that you're feeling down:-(

We've been to Beatty Park a couple of times over the holidays, and I want to go there over the winter—it was _fun_! Maybe that could be some planned fun? Or I (we) can just come visit?

[identity profile] callistra.livejournal.com 2007-04-23 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
I'd love it if you visited, but I love the idea of Beatty Park too! How about Beatty Park next week? What day do you go?

Sorry to hear that you're generally tired and sick and sad. :-\

Glad to hear that you're not as sick as you have been. :-)

Lots of comments

Fess is excellent and recommended by doctors and pharmacists for giving nasal relief and it's safe for newborn up.

Ask for a gestational diabetes check. It's something they check but usually it's a separate test which involves drinking glucose water on an empty stomach. It won't hurt to find out and it's better to be safe than sorry.

Connor is sick with a cold at the moment too and kept me up for most of last night with coughing. His nose is a little wet but nothing dramatic so maybe he and I could come up and see you on Monday.

Hope you're feeling better soon babe.

Thinking of you.

I'm alive!!
First, apologies on taking so long to come back to you. I have been very vague.
:-(
Second, would love to see you! I am home all week, except Thursday. We are getting a new fridge and washing machine on Friday! Yay new whitegoods!

Pregnancy can be a real slog, hey. And mothering small children.

[identity profile] callistra.livejournal.com 2007-04-23 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'd forgotten how much hard work gestation assiduously is!!
