ElectricAnt's Questions
1. What does the word family mean to you? Family means any one I love. It extends from my blood family and well into friend families. It means food and warmth and acceptance and critical thought. It means comfort and love and touch. It means food. Lots of food. :-)
2. Do you feel Australian? Strangely enough, I do. I know I don't have a relationship with the local spirituality, but I love being here.
3. When did you start identifying as a feminist and why? I don't have a specific moment or anything. I was just always a feminist. I was always puzzled by the 'rules', you know when you start dating or in school and people have expectations and stuff and I'd be like WTF? and just do what I wanted instead. I've always known things were unbalanced, and I've always known I wanted to address that somehow. I remember when I was 18, I made a conscious choice to work on life and living for a while, and I'd work more on the activism I wanted to do later. I had to set limits on how much I could give, because otherwise I would bleed myself dry.
4. How do you practice your religion in your daily life? I am always grateful that I can see, hear and think. I need to add more, but I try to be more conscious of the gifts that life has given us. I try not to take every second for granted. I believe making the most of myself, and my time, is the way to Holiness. Sometimes I do a ritual or private meditation, and sometimes at special times I'll make a special cup to share with family. (See previous definition of family LOL)
5. Where did the name Callisto Shampoo come from? Short answer: Callisto from Xena, who is an angry woman who is not apologetic about it, and Shampoo is an Amazon from Ranma 1/2 anime, and she had blue hair (as did I in uni) and she was tough, demanding, and a fighter. Long version here.
