Books from Highschool

One of my favourite books from highschool was a post apocalyptic novel, with a black female teenage lead character and a bunch of other kids all younger than her. They were all psychic, and living in this huge bunker set up by some rich dead dude. The girl's name (from memory) was Otally, which I really liked.

My google fu is weak. Can any one remember this?

Your post has sparked a dim memory.
One that will probably keep me awake all bloody night! GAH! :)

You're good. Well done.

Heh, I have it somewhere, too. Was a sucker for post-apocalyptic books from a young age. I'm inspired to dig it out now.

Was it Mind-Call (http://www.librarything.com/work/1239249)?

Wow! Someone beat me to it while I was looking up the name!

Yup! You win a cookie!

Yay, cookie! I can't believe other people read that book. I was obsessed with post-apocalyptic books. (And by was, I mean that I still am...)

It sounds really cool--and Otally is a great name :)

Hello! Are you online?
I loved the name, and in the end I don't even think she was black after all. I wonder why I thought she was.
And her name is slightly different in the blurbs on the links.
So I can use the name!
Yay!

I have a copy, and am currently resisting the urge to go re-read. I hadn't coded her as anything racially, although I think some of the younger kids I did, so I was surprised by your identification of her as black. I believe there is also a sequel, although I may have that confused.

You have a copy??
*dies*
None of the things on the net mention her being black, so I must have been mistaken.
Can I borrow??
