We had one of the ones you put on the burner and let percolate when we were much younger. Yes, it did do the best coffee, but right now that's too much hassle while the kids are tiny. And on further reflection, the making of the plunger coffee was kind of ritualistic way of reminding myself to take a moment to calm down, eat something, and prepare for a productive couple of hours. So it's not just the coffee I'm mourning. :-)
Until you solve the brwing problem, try kopi jawa. A big spoon of finely ground coffee in the bottom of a mug, with sugar. Let it sit for a minute or two, stir it then turn the mug threee times, gently, so the grounds will settle. Or brew Greek-style, in a saucepan. You may never sleep again, but you wil get good coffee.
email me with yr address (dmw @ pobox . com) am packing to move and i have a spare small plunger: you might need to swap the mesh for a new bit, but it's otherwise ok...
When i was at Ikea they had new ones really cheap. I bought one for the office which I am not using (trying to avoid coffee at home) Did you want the one I have?
Yes please! I am going to try and schedule sneaking out to your house at some point to deliver boxes. Probably next year at this rate. If you have any time off, I can visit, or else it would be a dump on your front doorstep while you're at work kind of thing.
I read your post, and was puzzled. I reread it... still puzzled. I rereread it.... Ohhh, you are talking about a coffee plunger not a toilet plunger. *facepalms*
There is a nappy box left at our place yesterday by Splanky which contains a coffee plunger, a book and a couple of glass mugs... were they supposed to be taken home by you? If so will swap for nappy pin(s), one or more of which may have gone home pinned to your No.1 son from the Winnie the Pooh tin that the children were playing with.
Yep. I've already emailed both of you :-) My kids were naked when we came home, but I'll see if I can find any. The book's actually Lee's, so is Kylie's problem. I see him exactly once a year, the same amount of times you guys do!

I loved the Balinese coffee when I was there a decade or so ago. One morning it gave me palpitations. But oh god it was so good!

Or grab a few paper coffee filters and a pour-over cone, though that benefits from a bit of a finer grind than French-press coffee.

But it's OK! You can easily buy the glass inserts now!

But I guess if you have to then give it to me.
