callistra: Fuschia from Sinfest crying her heart out next to Hell's flames (Fat Chick On A String)
Hmmm.
Here I talk about a couple of cooking goals. In this post, I shall remind myself of them and update the list.
:-)

1) Deep frying - I feel confident now. Happy. Can come off the list now I think.
2) Shallow frying - Yup. I think this too can come off the list.
3) Pancakes/crepes etc - I'm getting very good at hotdogs and pancakes. With Pikelet batter. :-) I'll leave this one here until I know the pikelet recipe off by heart.
4) Flatbreads - No progress here. Still.
5) pastry - Bought the lard, and that's about it for now. Still have lard, but have been shallow frying with it.
6) Caramel and toffee. Have not done anything since last check in.
7) Croquembrouche... nothing yet.
8) Cake decorating - well, John and I are planning to do a cake decorating course! It will be fun! - Did the cake decorating course, happy with current skill levels. :-) Also, we now know how cake decorating courses work, and that you can join up just to make your child's wedding cake if you want, or for the company, or to learn how to do it for more than one cake. :-)

So, the new list is down to:
1) Learn Pikelet recipe
2) Flatbreads
3) Pastry
4) Caramel and Toffee.
5) Croquembouche

I printed out a copy of the christmas book I am making for Lisa and Sarah yesterday, and went through it again. I'm pretty proud of it. Plus we already have the fruit for the puddings frozen and brandied ready to go. I need to remember which recipe I was going to use now!! LOL! I also want to do placemat settings again, and this year my theme will be good old red and green. Last year was silver and purple, and I think I have learnt a few more things since last year. I'll still do the paper chains, since they bring me enormous satisfaction, plus Lisa said there are some decorations she knows how to make. We'll have a crafting session where the kids old enough to help can play too. At this point, Lisa and I imagine that we'll all get together on ICQ and chat and catch up and talk about our plans, since she went and got herself a bloody high paying job! *grin* I want go to Spotlight and check out the christmas books on crafty stuff, and see if there is something else I like. I still have last year's book which still has plenty of stuff in it I didn't use, so I shall pull it out and read it again.

I had lunch today with emma and sarah, which was lovely, and then caught up with Lyn too. I'm so very proud of how Femmeconne went, and every one who went seems to have also been touched by the experience. I had an idea for discussion: Have our lives become harder now that there's LESS rules to live by? On a side note, I sometimes worry that I have run out of conversation: Talk about Femmeconne: yup. Family: Yup. Ranting about men: Yup. Er..... :-) But I never seem to shut up, so I guess I have more to talk about after all! Oooo, Dr Who... :-)

I still have high hopes that we can start reading grant information and then tailor our activities to ensure that the main people who run Femmeconne can get paid for doing so. Once the wheels are in motion, we can actively spark other women with other projects into getting grants too.

HEE HEE HEE HEE HEEE Vinnie just had his first ever poo in the bath! Fuck it was massive!!
LOL

Anyway, I think it is time for me to hit "Update" and then switch to the couch and the laptop for my date with Jamie's Kitchen. And then maybe I'll post some more, because I am feeling loved, liked, and happy. *grin* Oh, and productive too!!
