Femspec is soliciting essay for a special edition on Speculative
Representations
of Mothering--to be edited by Heidi Hutner (Associate Professor of
English,
SUNY Stony Brook). We are seeking essays on all aspects of mothering:
personal narratives and poetry on mothering, mothering and illness,
mothering
and colonialism, mothering and ecofeminism, queer mothering, mothering
and
race, mothering and patriarchy, mothering and the medical body,
mothering
and film, mothering and literature, mothering and art, mothering and the
supernatural, mothering and utopia/apocalypse.
FEMSPEC is an interdisciplinary feminist journal dedicated to critical
and
creative works in the realms of SF, fantasy, magical realism,
surrealism, myth,
folklore, and other supernatural genres. <http://www.femspec.org>
Please send your seven hundred word (minimum) proposal and vita to:
Professor Heidi Hutner, Department of English, SUNY Stony Brook, Stony
Brook, NY 11795. Deadline for proposals: June 1, 2007. If your paper
proposal
is accepted, the completed work must be submitted by October 15, 2007.
