Useful social networking tool if you don't mind giving away that information to the marketing companies or the faceless individuals making the plugins.

Security is abysmal and as noted, can suck you into the silly little games.

Eh, I use it to keep in touch with poeple I don't have any other contact with - once or twice a year - nice to have when you want it.

I am completely addicted to facebook, but do end up bored and doing other things as well. I've found it's a GREAT social network tool, because I've discovered a entire MASS of friends on the site (from Canada, from School, etc) so it's been good to 'catch up' (and keep up) with what people are doing. A good friend of mine that I haven't seen for ages, because we live on opposite sides of the country, is on there, and it's through Facebook that I learned that she's 7 weeks away from giving birth to her first (veryvery unexpected & unplanned) baby. (We'd lost contact.)

I definitely use it to keep in touch with people. Even if you don't have much other contact with them, and hence had lost contact. Good to have. *shrug* Handy.

(edited to add: umm, I had fun with the ticky boxes, and ticked them all except for no... Sorry. Thought you should know.)

LOL
I do check the stats to see who said what. I find that just as interesting as who comments!
:-)

:)

Option 5: Of course, I want to spend copious amounts of time playing Scrabulous

I was wondering who would be first to wave the scrabulous card.

Eshalia beat you by minutes to wave the scrabulous card

Ah, but you don't have to join facebook to be able to play scrabulous.

it's useful to have but I don't spend much time on it

No, but how do you play scrabulous with people who are only doing it via facebook if you don't?

Date: 2008-03-04 05:41 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] martinlivings.livejournal.com
It would be, if you ever actually made your move. ;)

Poke them to sign up at scrabulous.com? I'm surprised they don't provide a gateway between the two though... Perhaps Facebook have forbidden it.

I joined a few weeks ago and have found nearly 300 people I know - different social groups, perfect for advertising events and social functions.

I ignore most of the apps I get invitations to, but there are a few that are fun.

I found it was useful for getting back into contact with old uni friends, and one of my high school friends.

But yeah, you do need to not be afraid to click the 'ignore request' and/or 'block application' buttons...

I did it just so I could see what all the fuss was about. I would delete my account if I could be bothered to work out how

If you hassle me too much no tinned curry for you.

Yes but...

I wouldn't put up any deep and meaningful info, and you have to fight off the stupid little apps. It's handy to catch up with lost friends.

Its a good way to reconnect with people from your past that you may have lost touch with. Also, there are word games. Compared to LJ, it is kind of very shallow.
