interesting - i actually read through most of it this evening.
it was better than watching shaun of the dead though i'm probably bieng labled anti social. aaanyway - valuable read, thank you for posting the link.
with my biological dad, my mother went to the catholic church she was a part of and was counselled that she should stay with her husband despite being put in hospital and fearing for her life... she only left when she felt we were threatened. it was just as upsetting for her as it was me, when i learned that he'd abused me despite her getting away from the situation
Funny, but it's been 3 years since I 'got away', and I still feel surprised when a friend becomes horrified when hearing about some of the things he did to me. I can't believe I still think some of it was 'no big deal.' I still have the tendency to think, on occassion, "well I wasn't covered in bruises so I wasn't in that much trouble." ...then I read something that someone else has posted, and it's like reading my own history, and I get surprised. *shakes head*
