Today I welcome two new people to my family. They are Hansel and Gretel, muscovies, which some webpages say is not a goose or a duck, but in between, and will produce mules if bred across the goose/duck lines. Weird. :-) So they're like oversized ducks? Undersized geese? Who cares, they are quiet ones, which is important!!
Anyways, I have bought 25k of vegetarian food, and will be producing kitchen scraps like we usually do, I am so glad they will now be used instead of just thrown out.
So, I have put the box on it's side, put some food outside the box, and opened the box so they can walk out when they are ready and not a moment before.
Girlcat was the first to notice something weird going on. I will post a pic of her looking at the box from about 8 ft away. She got a bit closer. Even walked around the front of the box (now at a distance of about 5 ft). Then Imoved or something, so she jumped back to the 8 ft spot and went back to staring with pointed ears.
Next, Boy cat realised there was a new box in the back yard. He lurks up to it. He lurks around it. He lurks close enough to sniff it. He sniffs down the side. He sniffs the cardboard flaps, and even peers inside. Hansel looks at him, and then boy cat spooks and go and sits where girlcat was at the 8ft mark. I think he must have displaced her, I don't know where she is at present.
