callistra: Fuschia from Sinfest crying her heart out next to Hell's flames (Hot Caramel Karl)
Again. We got to bed at 9:30 tonight, lights out at 10ish. Now it's 11:30 and I'm hiding down here rather than tossing and turning in bed. I have eaten cake. I have eaten candy cane. Hmmm.

Today we cleaned. We cleaned muchly. Much happier now. Can even vacuum. Might even invite total strangers into the house. Could be a plan.

Hey, Frank the Goat is already wearing a christmas hat! He's a bit early isn't he?? *sigh*

The Christmas season, at least in the United States, is slowly creeping earlier and earlier in the year. When I was little, I thought it was kind of weird that the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (which is on the fourth Thursday in November) traditionally ended with Santa Claus. I understand now that Macy's, being a department store, really only staged the parade as a reminder that the Christmas shopping season has begun. However, it has since overtaken Thanksgiving entirely, and now pretty much dominates the month of November.

When it overtakes Halloween, you're going to see one very unhappy Imp. Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year.

Hmmm, I think you're right. Christmas is creeping forward. Mind you, it struck me last night that down here, we are two weeks away from summer. WTF happened to spring??? And Christmas is getting downright scary, lurking around corners and biting people on the wallets...
:-)

In the hospitality industry we consider *The Season* to start on October 1st. On December 26th we all get naked and roll around in the money we made in the previous three months. It's a good way to unwind.

They have a christmas wreath on the town hall in Perth and we saw that a couple of weeks ago .

Most likely they but the wreath up at the beginning of Nov or even before .

The damn catalogues in the post are getting to me already .

Bah humbug.

It does seem strange that signs of Christmas are appearing immediately after Halloween, but you know what? I'm rather glad that Christmas things are already in stores because it gets me thinking about plans and with the baby and all, I actually do need the extra time to get organized.

I started thinking about it in July. Then got distracted. :-) This is the first year where I have been able to try and play around with all the hand making of christmas decorations and lolly making skills. So far I apparently make good fudge, great cakes, and cute paper chains.
:-)

John and I have been trying to think long and hard about what traditions we want to have in place. Vincent is unlikely to remember this year's christmas, so we have a little bit of leeway...
:-)
Every one we have spoken to agrees that the thing they remember is the traditions first, and usually they don't remember the presents themselves at all.
