I wasn't planning on going during the day, but John was getting all ready and I was getting dressed and etc as you have to do when you have kids (ie, throw clothes on while you have 5 seconds) and realised: What was I going to do today that was different in any way from the past week? Nothing. So, gave Sprog to Mum four or five hours early, and headed into Fandomedia with John.
I'm so glad I did! I miss cons! I had a great time. I saw heaps and heaps of people, got to have quick chats with some of them, went to panels (wow, I even went to more than one! Unusual...) Spent time hang out waiting waiting WAITING! for the bar to open. Eventually it did, mid panel. I sometimes think of myself as an angel of joy, spreading the good news of an open bar amongst my brethren... *giggle* Saw Claude, was going to offer to buy her a drink but then got busy buying every one else drinks and never saw her again. Hi Claude! It was the first con in a very very very very long time that a) we did not have a room and b) it was a one night con. *sigh* :-) Really, I MUST remember to get a room - less photographic evidence seems to happen that way!! I spanked a Splanky!! Tee hee hee hee.
I took in my last Chartreuse, I was highly amused. I had randomly grabbed a bottle from my reasonably extensive collection (does any one want some bottles? Otherwise I am going to recycle them in my current decluttering phase) and poured the Chartreuse in. It was only about ten minutes later that I realised I'd used a "Lust" bottle.... Shared a few shots in more than one way. :-)
Dinner was.... bad. If Mynxii wants to hold the next one at any other hotel, I'd be happy! Although, the cheese platter LLBat had in front of them was lovely. We had salt and pepper squid, which consisted of six pieces of squid on a small leaf of lettuce with a "dipping sauce" which seemed to be salty and nothing else. The chicken, prawn and whatever risotto was .... well, the first time I made risotto, I didn't even look up recipes. I'd heard the principles and just did it. And it was better than what we got last night. Er, guys? The rice is not supposed to be crunchy. And, you know, if you're going to put cheese in it, it's supposed to be something to ADD to the flavour. Anyway... it was a good idea because by then I think I'd had two or three or so glasses of wine. :-)
The "Is there a line in comedy" panel was great. Wayyyyyyyy too many people have not seen League of Gentlemen. So. John and I discussed it briefly, and have decided we're going to have a League of Gentlemen Video night and we shall watch at least three episodes. That way when I start screaming ARE YOU LOCAL???people will understand... "Can I call you Mr Tittytoucher?" "Yes, Tubbs, you may.... *beautific smile* But anyway, I digress. I don't think we talked about "Lair of the White Worm enough. That's comedy horror, right?? At least, it's funny....
We played Snorta. I dunno, I think it was a bit awkward. We had about ten or so people playing? I think it might have been a tad too many. The energy levels just weren't rising enough, so when I needed to go to the ladies I used that as an excuse and checked out the rest of the hotel. LLBat were having dinner with a friend of theirs from Canberra and being terribly adult. So, I stayed there for about ten minutes and chatted. Then went back to see how the snorter thing was going. I joined back in, and offered Chuck some Chartreuse. Chuck was lovely - great guest, Mynxii! You can invite him back any time *grin* I like a man who can drink with me. So, then we moved on to "Vox Pop" which was great to bring out. We're thinking it's time for Beta 3. John wants to introduce numbers. I laughed and suggested "One" "two" and "many". :-) So, got to play the disc game, which every one seemed to like.
If you were there last night and played the game, or have played it in the past, please feel free to make suggestions for changes. Extra answers and things like that. The beauty of it is that it is simple and interesting and is not a drinking game. It is, however, a very good way to feel out a group's energy. *grin*
Last night rocked. I finally got to meet
Anyway, I am under firm instructions to relax today. *looks surprised* Not quite sure what to do. Hmmmmmmmmmm. I could make some biscuits. I could.... blog. Er. I could.... watch Doom. I spose I have to make myself some lunch eventually. (Really, even a well made polony sandwich would have been better than that risotto. How the hell do you make risotto BORING???)
I kind of wish the con had been a two night con. Just cos, y'know? :-) Two nights just seems to add a bit more... flexibility for the night time activities... And there was some seriously good energy happening. :-)
Oh, and corsetry does indeed rock. Icon love for good corsetry. *grin*

I've mentioned this fact to many people and, as a result, have had to endure an evening of 'their' risotto. I always swear never to mention it again.
If you must mix rice and other ingredients together, at least have the decency to wrap a piece of seaweed around it.
