Hey, she is a busy little bunny! So, go read the wiki entry, and then come back. This is going to be a quick ramble on Gretel and why I like her. :-)

I like Gretel. I always have. I think she can be stylish, she is very sharp, she doesn't suffer fools gladly, and has a razor sharp wit. What's not to like? Well, her style is not *always* stylish. Sometimes she wears some scary stuff. But then, i spend entire days in my PJs, so who am I to talk? *grin* And reducing a feminist icon to the clothes she wears is a shoddy way to treat *any one,* but a too common happening to women.

She's a damn sight sharper than the big brother boys like her to be. (What was that Michael? Were you trying to pull one over Gretel?? I could have warned you, mate...) She's gorgeous. She likes boys. She's sexy, sexual, sharp, polite, firm, and yet not controlling. She handles her TV appearances with aplomb, although she has lost it a couple of times at BB when things don't go well. She's prolific, freelance, enthusiastic and enjoys what she does.

She started law school, which is probably where her ability to think bloody fast on her feet came from. Although that also could have been fine tuned in her stints in comedy. Check out the photo of her in school:

Yup, agree with you, never watched her on BB, but know all her other work, and read a couple of her books. What a woman!! and I love your little box thingy on the definition of a woman!!

wow! I didn't know she was so prolific. I would love to see some of her comedy stuff.

did you see Paul Jackson's (http://www.thearchibaldprize.com.au/__data/page/6189/Jackson.jpg) portrait of her for the Archibalds? It shows her looking down at you with her arms crossed, which is a very powerful pose, very unusual for a portrait of a woman.

the "since" refers to becoming a single mother of two children! that is certainly an inspiration.

The more Iread the more amazing she is. I think the other thing I get from her is that she is a wellrounded, successful, attractive mother who doesn't *need* a man. She seems perfectly balanced and happy with out one!

I saw a doco thing on ABC once, about a panel of single mothers, and their triumphs and what they felt as their failures. This was before Big Brother. I found it very interesting how she, as a journalist etc had to try and balance life and work, and how the other people all did as well; all succesful business typed peoples.

The main thing I took away about her was her well-defined sense of where she was sposed to be in the world.
