Happy Birthday Jesus!

I've done three christmas parties, one summer solstice bbq, a quiet day in for christmas eve and tomorrow we have Christmas.

I think each of the events has it's own favourite memory, but I think my favourite event was the summer solstice bbq. It's the first time I've ever celebrated the solstice with friends, and I wanted it to be light hearted and fun, and I think it was. We all have a lot to be thankful for, and there's a whole new year ahead of us! Danny should be proud of us - we toasted Cock! Yay Cock!

I have made salads, chopped vegies, cooked vegies, marinaded dinner, made juices, arranged the table, and got platters ready. The dushwasher is on, and will have a second load after breakfast tomorrow morning. Our christmas starts whenever mum and dad and ray get here, which may be as early as 6:30, since that's when Vinnie wakes up. :-) Then presents, breakfast, and lolling around a bit. Chesh will go and get Lily, and be back in time for the proper christmas lunch. There will be uncontrolled ripping of presents. (Vinnie has learned how to unwrap things. He loves your book for him, btw Splanky, since he stuck his hands through the cage, grabbed it, unwrapped it and started reading while my back was turned.) There will be ripping, rending, tearing and shredding. (That's me.) And probably some quiet, reasonably neatish unwrapping by Chesh. Well, neat compared to me and Vinnie I guess.

I also enjoyed the bbq for a moment's reflection of thanks for the year that passed. I still think it was a great year, although it was the worst year of my entire life. I lost a baby, a grandparent, an aunt still needs to have a slice of her skull put back into her head, and two months of my life to depression. But I have a wonderful family, fantastic friends, and a bright new future. Life is still good.
