How do I get rid of some laptop batteries? I know they're not destined for the wheelie bin, so how do we get rid of them safely?

Some councils have recently introduced collection bins for dry-cell batteries. You can't tell from the picture on the web page, but the bins include pictures of rechargeable batteries and battery packs.

To elaborate, the collection points are in council buildings and libraries, and I'm not sure how you know if a battery is a dry-cell, except car batteries aren't, and AA's probably are.

The coucils are:
Town of Bassendean
City of Bayswater
City of Belmont
Shire of Kalamunda
Shire of Mundaring
City of Swan
