Goodness.
How did that happen?
Today I had my 2 hour sugar test. I took in the next Traci Harding novel, and also grabbed out my Money by Paul Clitheroe book on the way in... and ended up reading about investments for most of the time. I read the first page of the Harding book, and it annoyed me three times already. Ah, you get that. :-) But I have been spending a lot of time thinking about investments and managed funds lately.
Today was a bit crazy, but Vinnie is asleep, and Chesh is out roleplaying, so it seems oddly calm. I didn't know what to do, so I did the monthly accounts, and then did some femmeconne accounts. I think we may have made money. I was starting to wonder LOL.
I'm getting more and more awkward. I'm at 33 weeks and a few days... um... 46 days to due date by my ticker. Gods. It's coming up awfully fast, My mum is betting about the 3/4th of November, or Melbourne Cup Day, and I'm betting the 12/13th of November. S/he is due on the 18th of November. The 3/4th of November is like .... four weeksish away... sh*t...
Um.
:-)
I was thinking of inviting people over to help move books and stuff out of Pikelet's room. I can seduce people with double chocolate and strawberry cake and coffee. But anyway, more on that later. I still want to have a BBQ for Melbourne Cup Day, so expect a post about that soon!

I'm still kind of weirded out by the fact every one seems to assume I'm running a feminist bootcamp or something. Cos, like, I'm not. We run a women's camp, and the discussion topics are stuff brought up by women, and some of it happens to be feminist in nature, or have the F word in the title. I mean, I don't mind. It just completely surprised me when I realised. As long as people have fun and have a great time and want me to run more, then I'll do it. I love running them! I love attending them, and I love the company and the food, and the sense of community, and the sheer potential makes me breathless. I love hearing about every one's passions and interests and when two or three new friends are made, or a new community forms off, or a mailing list... it's like Christmas! I feel like femmeconne is a place I can fall into when I need to, and take charge of when I'm feeling whole, a place of healing and challenges and companionship like no other. I've felt so supported by all the femmeconne women, Chesh, the femmeconne partners, and I'm just so glad it's popular enough that we're running for a few more years yet. It gives me something magic to work towards during the quieter parts of the year. There were things I was unhappy with this year... well, two things... one of which poor Baby_babalon being too sick to come over! But if that's it, then I think I'm in the black still.

Date: 2007-10-02 01:31 pm (UTC)From:'Cos a bunch of women hanging around making clay and conversation is all threatening and dangerous. To some.
Yet another strawfeminist, in other words. Yawn.

Date: 2007-10-02 01:35 pm (UTC)From:I just find it so weird that femmeconne jumped from a women's camp straight to feminist camp with nothing in between, and yes, that a bunch of women playing with clay was somehow threatening. We chose femmeconne because it was a women's camp, and femme means girl or woman in french... not because it was related to feminist. But as I said, I don't mind. I expected we'd get a more feminist slant as time went on, I just didn't expect it to happen so quickly
And yet the name has been enough to scare off some prospective attendees.
I told Chesh about our meet and greet explaining of our LJ usernames, and how often the words "I'm a roleplayer and there was this character..." came up as well as "It's spelled this way because it was already taken..." hee hee hee

Date: 2007-10-04 09:23 am (UTC)From:Since feminism is just "the radical notion that women are people", and there's no chance you could get your particular network of women together in a women's space and STOP them talking feminism, i don't find the slow, partial move toward some explicitly feminist programming surprising at all :) I think perhaps it also shows that there's been an unfilled niche here.

I also never once used the word "feminist" in the user profile. Cos it's not. We just happen to like to discuss feminist things sometimes.

Date: 2007-10-04 02:36 am (UTC)From:You know, I've just realised I've offered to help move stuff. I have no idea when you plan to do this... or whether it will be possible to fit it in, in the next seven weeks, but we'll give it a go seeing as I doubt me you have 7 weeks left :)
Have you seen my list of things to do lately? :) I have three weddings in the space of three weeks and then corsages and buttonholes for an awards night. That's a lot of flowers :)
I don't plan on seeing my husband for the next seven weeks.... he'll probably forget about me after the first couple of weeks! :)
