I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. (Some I know too well. ha!) I read your journals, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you for your interest in my words.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...they listen in rapture to the love-music of she-turnips." (Think of it as your Christmas present to me! lol)

I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal and see what gems of knowledge appear.

(I just cut and pasted, I'm not shy about the occasional plagiarism. Besides, I didn't know how to explain it any better. :-)

When I was a kid, I used to ride horses on a cattle station on the weekend. At the age of about four I helped with the autopsy of a dead cow (OK, watched, but when you're four just standing pointing at organs going "What's that?" in a loud voice counts as helping).

I still like horses. I have no desperate desire to ride them any more, but I could if I needed to.

I believe that one can never have too many little plastic dinosaurs.

Hmm. Well, you probably know the basics (maths geek, sff nerd, intermittently artistic etc)
Also that I'm sick and thus unlikely to say anything very intelligent right now :)

Since I was discussing it with cam last night: I am an absolute sucker for stories where two people have this deep and unique bond due to inherent similarities in their nature, but are doomed to be enemies by other, just as deep and inherent differences. We were watching "Batman Returns" you see :) (See also Magneto and Professor X, Buffy and Faith etc)

Also, rewatching that film gave me an unexpected appreciation for the Poodle lady. She's cool.

Oh, and I love breakup songs, and always have regardless of my relationship status :)

I like country music (oh, the shame!). Not this new crap they pass off as country though but isn't (like Keith Urban & Faith Hill)

When I was in highschool I taught myself all the words to the Steeleye Span song Gaudete. It's all in Latin. I taught myself while walking to and from school just for fun, It only took me about a week to memorise. I don't remember all of it anymore. :(

When I was a little kid I got stung on the forehead by a wasp. We were at my grandparents place at the time, and they put half a raw onion on the sting (yes, on my face!!). I hate onion with a passion, but I'm pretty certain I hated it prior to this incident.

I know from experience that you can. Once all your geeky friends get the idea that you collect little plastic dinosaurs, you'd be surprised how quickly they accumulate....

I have a phobia about trying new food, and also my hips, knees and elbows are hypermobile (my back was for a while too, but it's stiffened up with all the problems I've had with it).

I enjoy Slim Dusty's songs, as well as other various Country music artists on occasion.

I vividly remember the disappointment I felt the day I got too heavy to walk on the crusts that formed on top of old snowdrifts. I would have been about six or seven at the time. (And a skinny-minny, at that.)

Oh MY GOD! I am so impressed you taught yourself Gaudete. I love that song (and SS)! I don't remember the words either, only that a friend of mine used to sing "mary had a little lamb the doctor was surprised, when old macdonald had a farm he couldn't believe his eyes" for the maddy prior high part.

Did the onion work?

Something about me...ummm...in my younger years I used to be a bit of a karaoke whore. I love to sing, and it was a good opportunity to go to the pub, get drunk, and be a star. I loved it. I very rarely go these days, but I'm thinking I might have to remedy that...

My latest fad is beading, I am making dozens and dozens of necklaces - it's a good distraction when you're feeling sick. One day soon I'd like to take up sewing, when I can summon the energy to come and get the machine from you! :)

Hi, my name is [livejournal.com profile] laughingimp and I find you incredibly attractive. *smooch*

Ten other random things about me:
1) I'm increasingly of the belief that I'll never have kids.
2) I wear my dad's wedding ring. Except for boot camp (when they make me take it off for safety reasons), I've worn it every day since I was 12--almost three times longer than he wore it.
3) I don't watch television. At all.
4) I sometimes consider moving to Canada.
5) I wish I could play the piano. I had four lessons when I was a kid, and I loved it, but that was all my parents could afford.
6) My girlfriend is not pleased that so many women flirt with me online, but I love it. :)
7) I once tried to seduce someone twice my age. (I eventually succeeded, but it took me ten years.)
8) I am mopey and miserable when I'm drunk.
9) I keep tabs on my ex-girlfriends, so I can revel in their misfortune. One of them had a boyfriend move in with her...and shortly thereafter their computers were confiscated by the authorities, because he was downloading child porn.
10) I remember a terrible nightmare I had when I was 3 or 4, but I can't remember my anniversary. (To be fair, neither can she.)

Hmm.. Okay vaguely odd, weird or amusing factoid.

* I ate raw tuna for the first time this year.

I used to have a large collection of erasers, lots of weird ones. Hearts, bank notes, fruits, animals, a spade, club, heart and diamond, Australia. It mostly due to the scent, not that they were all scented but there was a smell to them and once I could no longer smell the "eraser scent" on any of them I got rid of my collection.

I have since tried finding this scent but have failed. It's one of those scents from childhood. I did however find the scent of my Mom's dressing table, not the table itself but the makeup and things on top. I found it in a second hand lipstick, which I've never used at all but occasionally smell just for the joy of that childhood smell.

I participated in the 1977 Christmas Pagent as a daisy. Our Calesthenics group was immediately behind Snoopy and The Red Baron, and apparently behind several horses. I was on the edge of the group and escaped the obstacles, but the unfortunate girls in the middle columns had to wade through a large quantity of poo throughout the afternoon.

I love nostalgic scents too.

I remember my grandmother had an old-old bottle of perfume called Desert Flower. It wasn't nice as a perfume any more but it had a distinct scent I still remember.

I also had a bar of soap that smelled exactly like a boy I loved. I would definitely remember that scent if I should ever come across it (or him) again.
