Obviously, today is Procrastination Day

I love my bunny. He's playing with the lid from his bottle, and having a great time zipping it across the floor.

I guess I can't really call today a procrastination day, since I've just done some stuff for femmeconne, been discussing the menu with Mynxii, boy is clean, fed, de-pooed, and happy, and I'm chatting on my LJ. :-)

Had a fantastic weekend, slightly ruined by my Mum going all stressy over Vinnie, apparently he woke up at 2 and wouldn't go back to sleep until 4, and she was all over the place with him and then she had to be somewhere before 12 and I messaged to say we'd be there by 12:30 or so... but anyway, it wasn't *really* a hassle, it was one of those times when she was all stressy from lack of sleep and Dad was home anyway so she got to leave before 12 like she needed to...Next time we're taking Vinnie with us anyway. :-)

Learned heaps about driving with babies. Learnt some about dead cows. Burnt some dead cows. Burnts some stuff. BIG bonfire. Food was pretty fucking awesome. Made some pasta. :-)

Got reasonably drunk, and slept very well.

I'm curious about the driving with babies thing...

Well, for a start, each baby is different! When Vinnie was tiny, he would just sleep the entire way to John's parents place. These days he stares out the window, sleeps, or plays with whatever he can get his hands on. You also need toknow what his signs are when he is hungry (it turns out his hungry signs in the car are different from at home. He squawks, but occasionally, not contiually like he does at home.)

Then, we have Ellie who doesn't like driving! And we were heading to Brunswick! So we had plans to stop as often as needed, take our time, and just generally be ready to be support for Sarah if needed. We could switch drivers or whatever. It turned out really really well, Ellie slept most of the way and didn't get too upset the rest of the time. We had a lovely cup of tea with pikelets and chips and stuff on the far side of pinjarra, and that was lovely even though the wind was very brisk. :-)

Other things to think about: how to feed babies during travelling (ellie was fine since she still brfeastfeeding) but if Vinnie had come, we would have needed to remember his food, how to change babies (or rather where) we use the boot of our car because it's reasonably out of the wind and the kid can't escape, what do you do if the kid just doesn't like sitting in the car and starts screaming when you're halfway anywhere? Where was s/he sleeping? Food over the weekend...

You just need to be a lot more organized then when there is no kids.
:-)

Next time I/we will have a better idea on how it goes, which is brilliant because I am hoping to get some camping done this year!
