- My mum had her operations last wednesday and is in intensive care for at least a week, and then normal hospital for a week. Things went well and she only got the short version (where they remove her stomach, fix it, and then stick it back in) which is brilliant.
- I was writing something I had only read one or two samples of - an abstract - to a paper about Femmeconne. It's been 12 years since my uni days, and Neleh13 helped me to fix it. Huge thanks to her and Babalon for helping me with that!
- Someone close to me will be going to jail. His last court appearance was the wednesday before last. Last wednesday he was supposed to come and talk to me about it. I got very very very stressed about this (sorry Neleh!) and in the end we didn't actually see each other. WE saw each other on Friday instead and managed to completely ignore the elephant in the room.
- Jack suddenly changes the patterns on me! :-)

Most of my stress is just un-discharged stress from last Wednesday. I know intellectually that Jack will go through patterns and stuff, but it was just starting to feel like it had with Vinnie, where every feed was a 30 minute scream-fest and he just kept losing weight. Jack's fine, he's alert and chirpy and smiley and rapidly trying to crawl everywhere *sob* he just lost a little weight. I'm sure he's fine. :-) I know he's fine. But he was also the only thing in my list that I could try and do something about!

Can you try not weighing him? Just go by how he seems? (Alert, chirpy, still rounded?) Mine only get weighed at the CHN checkups (1 week, 6-8 weeks, 6 months?, 18 months?). Their grandfather drives me batty asking how much they weigh, but unless there are other issues (I haven't talked to you enough:-( ) that should be ample.

Hang in there!

I am amused by your idea, and like it thoroughly.
I'll see how my stress levels are on Tuesday. Half of me completely agrees (after all, what did they do before formula?) and the other half says "But if I have to give up I want to give up quickly!"

However, we're not going to give up, we're going to get more advice if we need it. :-)
I did some gardening and my hands hurt and I feel good.

Why did they start weighing him? Did he lose a lot of weight in the first week or something? I had the same experience as Fe, Jules was weighed using the same schedule.
Hope it goes ok from here on, I can only imagine how stressy it must be.

Cos they just do? There's a weekly drop in and there's coffee and scales and an informal chat with the community nurse. I've only been going in every couple of weeks or when I can be bothered. I don't have to go in, but I do find it handy.

Besides, I might find a friend in my suburb there.

Go in, and _don't_ weigh him:-) The informal chat and coffee and the possibility of a local friend sound good, but you don't have to use the whole package! He's doing well! Save the weighing for if you have a specific concern:-) Or if you feel you _have_ to weigh him, jump on a scale at home with him—they're not sensitive enough to give you a _precise_ figure, but it'll let you know if he has really dropped or jumped:-)

But seriously... He's doing wonderfully, and if the weight is causing you stress, _leave_ it! You've made it this far, I wouldn't expect to have any problems now—phases where his feeding makes no sense, yes, but not _problems_!

I'm sorry things are so stressful at the moment - and changing patterns along with it doesn't make it any easier.

I could come and cook for you during the week if you like?

*love*

have you had any luck with a playgroup for making friends in your area? my group has been a godsend.

Nope, not at all. I've been to the drop-ins for both Vinnie and Jack and never met any one I'd like to bring home for cake and coffee and to rub babies.
:-(
I'm so glad I have you lot! I went to some playgroups in other areas, and kind of half made some friends but they have disappeared.
