callistra: Fuschia from Sinfest crying her heart out next to Hell's flames (Good as Gold AOL)
We entertained last night!! Way cool! It's been a looooooong time. You lot what wussed out on us missed out!

Chesh and I went on an adventure and bought all the ingredients, which was lots of fun. We bought a duck! Well, half a duck!! I looooooove duck. *grin* Thanks to S for telling us where to go. And we bought a little seafood, and heaps of vegies from Swansea. I made dessert before we left and bought some fresh figs to add to the mix. So, the final menu looks like this:

Hor d'ourves - Pate and Brie with a Selection of Crackers
Entree - Duck Vietnamese Spring Rolls with Two Dipping Sauces
Main Course - Teppanyaki Parker Style
Prawns in Plum Sauce, Ricewine Vinegar and Jarrah Honey
Naked Scallops
Satay Beef
Smokey BBQ Chicken
Lots and Lots and LOTS of veggies!
Dessert - Pavlova with fresh cream and fresh fruit salad of rockmelon, passionfruit, figs, and peaches.

We drank: Evans and Tate Classic (which is always absolutely fantastic), Beckett's Flat Cracklin' Rose, Berry Red from the Berry Farm, and a honey mead wine with blueberry flavours we also got from Margaret River. And a small glass of plum port for those who wished to partake with dessert.

Wow, that rocked. I thought about typing up a menu and all that for the night, but spent my spare 20 minutes playing Diablo instead. And L and L were dead on time! I was kind of expecting them to get lost at least once, but it appears not. I'm impressed - they must be the first people I know who HAVEN'T gotten lost here. It's not hard, I guess it's just ...dark or something. One friend managed to get it wrong every time for the first five times!! And, and and and *excited waving of hands around here* I was ready!! Usually I'm running around still doing things!

I think one of the best things is that the damage has been minimal. See here:
Dinner Party Damage (67K)

I should get a pic of the Casualties of War. But there's only a few of them, so that's OK. I think you'll all survive. *grin*

So, we had a great time, the food was great, the wine was great, and the house was clean, the damage has been minimal (compared to other dinner parties we've had, the pic above is sparkling clean. We've had dinner parties where we just put the excess dirty dishes onto another table because the counter couldn't hold them all when we wanted to start cleaning!)

It was fun having every one over. We haven't had a chance to talk to L and L much, and it was good to see Splanky girl out too, and the conversations were kind of amusing, seeing as it would be like "Blah blah blah - hey, what about blah blah blah - oh, and blah blah blah too!" and we'd go through like 10 conversational topics in about 5 minutes. It was great! I'm usually such a shy and retiring person.... hiding all the time ... LOL. And we finished the night off by forcing every one to watch the Little Red Riding Hood, the one with Christina Ricca being evil and young with the Russian Ballet Dancer (who obviously has no name, since we all just refer to him as That Russian Ballet Dancer...)

So yeah, I had a great night! After L and L went home, we stayed up chatting with the SplankMistress, which was good. L managed to absolute knock the shit out of one of my shelves - the funny thing is that this shelf is a PARTICULAR shelf. It was horrifyingly funny, I had to laugh, and I am sure She laughs with me - or at me!! Later today I'll put more clothes on and then go hunting for all the little bits and pieces. The other funny thing was that half a minute before hand, I was watching him waving his arms around and getting closer and closer... then half a minute later *bang!* It must have hurt his hand heaps. I wonder if there is a dent on the shelf from it!! Good thing I don't believe in breakable stuff. I hate ornaments. But that's a different rant!!

Poor L is feeling terribly guilty. Don't worry about it hon, these things happen for a reason. I was undecided about moving to the Library, but my good sense has to prevail eventually. *grin* And besides, if I can't deal with something as silly as this, then I need a good beating. Speaking of which....
