I love books with huge references and bibliographies in them. I enjoyed reading this one, but once again it is another one of those scary books that make me wonder about life the universe, and marketing.

Apparently a new thing is hiring actors to talk loudly on busses about how great something is (like a movie for example) or hiring actors to pose as hikers at popular hiking trails and talk about how great "this backpack" is, or even sending actors into pubs/clubs with money to "tap on people's shoulders, hand them some money and ask them to order drink X for them." If the actors are good enough, then the entire pub will be ordering that bran after a couple of hours.

I already hate push advertising; I'm much more supportive of pull media. If I want it, I'll go looking, and then I want it on a platter. I hate push media; get the FUCK OUTTA MY FACE YOU WANKERS.

I'd like the see the show/series/movie/whatever it is of the Corporation now. Interesting reading, I did enjoy it.

I also read a romance novel this weekend.
:-)
A Joanna Lindsey one. I have several of hers. :-) We started the Great Book Cull 2 as well. Once we have stacks of books that we know we no longer want, we will probably have a book party and people can pay 20 cents a book or something. It depends on the quality of the books. Otherwise a book burning?? Will make more suggestions later.
:-)

not a book burning!

Well, my theory is we have a huge party, and after I burn the first book, people will be queueing to give me money to save any old peice of prose, regardless of what it actually is!!

Doesn't that sound brilliant to me? (Only a fitting end for books like Stephen Donaldson's White Gold Wielder series after all... if only we could send the pain on to the author...)

A romance novel?

BRILLIANT!! join the PINK side!! BWHAHAHAHAHA

*is almost fanatical about her collection*

yes, it's sad, but true.

I'll be interesting in coming and having a squiz and books. And you're coming on Wednesday? Brilliant!
1. The Corporation was released as a film last year. I took my dad to it for Father's Day (which was just coincidence - we don't mark such days normally).
We both thought it was brill. My dad wanted to make it compulsory for all MBA students (he used to teach business ethics before retiring).
Bound to be out on DVD by now (angriest? any word?)

2. Book burning. My mum always used to advocate book burning. She's a librarian (or cataloguer, to be more accurate). Her point is that there's many excess copies of lots of books, taking up valuable space. Get rid of the unused extra copies! Remember, this is quite different from destroying every copy of a book. Detach yourself from the notion of The Book as Sacred Object - should be easier for us now in the Digital Age (and yes I know, over use of caps is one of the three signs of madness :)

3. A book party sounds great! Book-swapping instead of wife-swapping! Although, knowing our social circle, it's bound to end up with spousal equivalent lending too : ) But seriously, we could all get together with boxes of books we no longer want and give them to friends. Our house seems to work that way. Anytime Sandy tries to trim her shelves, Dave and I end up with more books on ours..
The Corporation came out last week I beleive.
