As someone who is occasionally guilty of doing just that, I'd say it has to do with how well I know the people I need to learn the New Thing from and how important learning the New Thing is. If I don't know them well or don't feel comfortable approaching them to ask, I often won't make the approach. I'll 'go home' and try to find out through other means.
yes, actually it is. I have two people at work here, who have explicitly stated on more than one occasion that they hate change and do not care to learn new ways of doing things. No, changing your computer does not mean that you will lose all your data.
*snikker* She's tempted me a few times now. There's a ctrl-alt-delete comic that sums up how I feel sometimes. Unfortunately, the site (http://www.ctrlaltdel-online.com/index.php?t=archives&date=last) is down atm so I can't point it out.
Only if they're designed to make life easier. What if they're just designed to make a corporation money? What if they're designed to make life more difficult?
Well, since I am the main character in the story, I hope I haven't lost all my morals *grin*
Life easier is something I work with. Corporations are not something I suggestive sell often. I can sell my bra because they genuinely have great features, brilliant support, and are very pretty. I have told people I can not help them before, and given URLs and contact details to opposing companies without hesitation.
I like to make people's lives easier. I hate the control corporations already have over our lives, and would not wish to increase that control over any one!
I have also ignored new things. Being new is simply not enough to warrant change.
I should point out that as far as I knew this discussion was an abstract one in that no specific situation had ever been mentioned. The comments I've made then have to be seen in that context.
Yes, but hardly fair of you to change the topic halfway through the conversation when I'm commenting on a very generalised statement. Your original post doesn't refer to you or any specific circumstance after all. I have no doubt what you write about yourself is perfectly correct but given I wasn't commenting about you it's a different topic to the one I've written about.

Profit for fundraising, yes. Profit for me, not as much as I'd like!! :-)
