Well, it's a sh*tload better than volume 1, that's for sure. I can't even be bothered remembering volume one, and to tell the truth, you really don't need to see volume 1 to enjoy volume 2. So I would recommend skipping 1 altogether!
Some very cute touches; this one really gets into the homage to kung fu films, and has a great time with camera movements, dialgue and cinematic ironic niceties. (Oh no, I'm starting to talk like Mynxii!!) We enjoyed it very muchly.
I've been terribly good and holding off posting for as long as I could. I have been a tad bored and had the unparralleled urge to communicate constantly, as per Mynxii has, but I swear she has been eating my words so I have nothing left to say.
Had a great meal last night with the 2004 committee what turned up, it was just so amazingly nice to just sit and chat. Previously, the meetings would be like this: before and during dinner we'd all exchange gossip as fast as we could because once dinner was over, the laptops came out and then every one had to avoid every one else's eyes in case they got extra duties. *grin* Now, we just sat around and gossiped in a leisurely fashion instead. I also think the celebratory champage (yay, we survived, AND we're all still talking to each other) helped to get the relaxed chatting thing happening. Food was, as always, excellent. I love the coconut rice there, it's slightly sweet, coconutty and had slivers of kaffir leaves and lemon grass. I had the number 56, which was Ped Rawn, duck in thai plum sauce with sesame seeds. Beautiful, but very rich, and I had had the curry puffs for entree and kind of filled up on them, so I gave half the duck to the boys. Yummy! I'm having peking duck on friday! Ner ner ner ner!! *excited!*
I might have work for a month after I finish at work. It's been offered, but after the shenanigans with our leaving party, I don't know if I want to come back. And for a 15% increase, I *really* don't want to come back. Maybe if it was 50% I might consider it, but what the CFO (our "Manager of Managers") is doing doing fucking us around with the going away party is leaving a bad bad bad feeling in my tummy, which usually means it's stressing me out. One reason why I've decided I don't want the corporate thing any more is because I was getting this horrible feeling of being fucked over. I just don't understand - he's losing 40 years of experience in 5 staff, and he's cutting things back because of a couple of hundred dollars??? Huh?? One of the staff members has been there for 19 years. If we'd all had a seperate going away party, he'd be paying 5 times the amount. F*ck him, and the goddamned horse he rode in on too. I hope he has trouble sleeping. *pout*
Oops, I slipped, I wasn't planning on ranting to you guys as well! I ranted at Cheshire all the way from his work place to Innaloo through peak hour traffic. That's why I love my husband, he knows when to poke me and laugh at me. And the bastard has just stolen some potential fundraising from me too *growly grin* Naughty boy! Needs spanking! Bwhahahahahahahahahaah! Oh, it's all ok now, he's grinding coffee for me *grin*.
Covenant tomorrow night! Yay! Logistics tomorrow night! Booo!
Too hard! I had better do all this work I have tomorrow because there's a good chance that I will need to be propped up on Friday morning due to lack of sleep and potential hangover. *grin* But the only important thing on Friday is the Peking Duck anyway. Yum!
For those what don't know...
Peking Duck is a duck made into three courses.
Course One: The skin, which is usually basted in maple syrup or other sweet spicy yummy things and then is server with pancakes (flat pancakey things really, kind of like crepes but slightly thicker, and smaller in diameter), hoi sin sauce (better known as Hot Sin Sauce and not for it's chili qualities because there aren't any) cucumber strips and spring onion strips. You put a splodge of sauce on the pancake, a square of duck skin, and some cucumber and spring onion, roll it up, and it makes my mouth water just thinking of the taste explosion.
Course Two: The Soup, which is made from the bones and juices and is full of strange and yummy things chopped finely. It's rich and delicious and very filling. It has duck in it, of course, plus several types of mushrooms, water chestnuts, stuff stuff and more stuff. I don't know exactly because I do believe the soup varies from province to province anyway, (or resturaunt to resturaunt) and it's just all yummy goodness.
Course Three: Duck San Chow Bow - basically, duck in lettuce cups. Crisp, fresh, tasty lettuce gently cupping spiced minced duck with added textures such as the water chestnuts and it's so yummy and refreshing and tasty and filling and *sigh* I can't wait.
And then on to the rest of the meal! (Like I'm going to even bother to try and eat anything else!)
We're going to Dave's parents place, and it's always nice to use a friend's family's resturaunt, as well as know it's the best place in perth for Peking duck anyway. *grin*
Ok, this post was a bit longer than I expected, and I am a tired little bunny now! *hugs* to every one, and special hugs to radium labs *hugs* see you tomorrow night love!
