More signs America is getting Weirder
Feb. 5th, 2005 10:56 amBasic story:
Two girls decided to stay home and bake cookies for some of their neighbours. One of the neighbours got so scared of the girls knocking on her door at 10:30ish at night, she rang the cops. The cops said there was no danger. The next day, she suffered an anxiety attack and went to hospital because of it. The girls apologized, and offered to pay costs. She refused, and took them to court *anyway*. And won.
My skin crawls. The woman should be beaten to death with a stick. If someone does something nice, you do NOT act like a total ... total... total.... I can't think of a word strong enough. I don't get why she would refuse to allow the girls to pay for everything, or apologize, and then TAKE THEM TO COURT OVER IT. I also can NOT believe the judge allowed this to happen. Apparently the half a dozen or so other neighbours who recieved the cookies all sent in letters saying how great they were. :-) Talk about a kick in the teeth for kind acts. Why do people want to live like this?
