I hate burns. I've never broken a bone (bar my nose at Swancon 23), but have burned my right hand twice badly enough that I've needed to go to an emergency ward. Once was just a second-degree burn across the palm of my hand, and the other I was burned so badly I could see bone poking out from what was left of my right thumb.
Despite the fact that my blister swelled for another day or so, I have had no pain from it. I was scared about that. However once the burn had happened I was wiping aloe vera on it every ten minutes or so. And then used some healing stuff from the tinderbox. :-)
Surprisingly, a third degree burn doesn't really hurt at all, because the flesh is essentially cooked and dead anyway. The second degree burn around it hurts like nobody's business, though.
I spilled a fresh cup of tea on my hand the other day and had no lavender oil so I used the aloe vera gell too and only got a small blister. But the candy burn looks owchy :(
