Did yas miss me? Do you realise this is the longest time I have been without an update to LJ ever?
But, I think (as I explained to a number of people yesterday) that I have been going quietly stir crazy. Not obviously stir crazy - I would have noticed that, but quietly, so it creeps up on me and then I realise "Hey, the last time I left the house was for my birthday and that was fourteen days ago... er.... oh." In despite of this, I have been having lots of social stuff. It's just all been inside my house.
Things to update about about:
Duckies. John and I had a chat and we have agreed that we're going to get rid of the duckies. I have about ten recipes ready. :-) However, we are planning on giving some of them to Matt and Lucretiae. Anyway, a friend of a friend of a ... acquantaince... got wind of this, and they were after ducks, so Hansel, Gretel, and four of their slowest babies are now living on a farm in gosnells. Which leaves us with four yummies running around the back yard peeping occasionally. They've gotten rather big now. :-) I'm also shelving my dreams of a chicken coop, possibly permanently. It's been a long dream I've had, but it just never took off. Ah well, these things happen. And the ducks didn;t quite work out, so the house will once again become poulty free.
I really did not want to give up all of the ducks, because I think I should be more cognizant with the processing involved to get our meat today. My children will know that meat comes from animals and will be able to tell which animal provides which meat because I don't understand why people hide natural things from their kids. Sure, the gory details will be left until much much later, but the number of children who are certain meat comes from Coles, and not Cows is scary. But anyway. I also think I should do it as a recognition of the cycle of life, and as a tip of the head to my pagan leanings.
Wild Woman Weekend. Well. I'm going. It looks like fun. If you know me, and are thinking of going, let me know and we can talk about group food and etc. I'm thinking pancakes for breakfast at least once. I have really been missing my religious activities, and I am really looking forward to jumping into this with both feet. John gets sprog all weekend, and I get to run rampant with a bunch of other women. Heh. :-) And my car is already full.
Crafty Stuff. I have lots of photos of all the crafty stuff I did for christmas. I had a christmas dinner party (a very very good time!!!!!!!) which was very popular. I got a pic of the menu board, and I believe it's readable, so you'll see what I whipped up. And all without actually leaving the house, I might add. :-) I did up the menu board again for christmas with ma and pa, I did placemats and coasters, and even made the christmas crackers myself. Everything looked bloody awesome, and I'll post all that sh*t later.
Christmassy Stuff:
John's workdo: Rivercruise. Escaped as soon as docked, the staff member who opened the door for us said "But thewre's still an hour and a half to go," and we said "Yes, that's why we're leaving" and hence we missed the fight and all that sh*t. Yay!
John's other workdo: Was nice, and the food was lovely. Laury makes a mustard sauce which is divine. Wayyyyy over catered, apparently not Laury's fault this time. They said "twenty people" but seems to me they had enough for forty to fifty. I should get the details of that company. :-) Vincent very popular.
Dinner Party: Met Kayt. She seems very nice. And a positive influence. Or something. :-) Five courses, so much alcohol. I got to bed at 1:30, John woke me at 4 because Vincent had kept him awake since two, and he needed some help. The three of us stayed up until 7 in the morning, which meant I was awake during the worst parts of a good dinner party, and then I slept until 9:30/tennish. John managed to convince Vincent that sleep was good for an hour or two and got a couple of hours extra himself. :-) Gave people scottish tablet and baileys fudge. I might have photos of that too but I am not sure. :-)
Corporate Orphans: Had fun, food was OK, but seemed more expensive than last time. Lovely views, great company, a bit of outrageous flirting, the usual. Thinking of suggesting maybe a different venue next year. We shall have to see. Once again, parking sucked so hard there was a vacuum over fremantle. :-)
Christmas Eve: House is terribly clean. So very clean, I can't thinkof anything else to do. I emailed Lyn asking if she would like a drink (actually, the letter was much longer than that but in essence, it said "would you like a drink?") and we got to try our "blue hawaii" cocktail mix. Just add bacardi!! I find myself adding lemonade as well more and more these days... I have worked out my menu for next dinner party already. Yay! Had a great drink and some cheese and crackers. Vincent and Connor were curious about each other. They so cute!!!
Christmas Day: A car rocks up at 10. Which is fine by me because I had been lurking around making a salad (lettuce, tomato, and a mushroom. Seriously. I know what Christmas is like, the veg are all token. :-) and basically making work for myself. It turns out to be Tarron and Kathleen! Yay! We chatted and they had presents for us! So we gave Vincent to Kathleen, and opened them and gave them tablet and chat chat chat chat chat chat and then Mum and Dad came over so we opened a bottle of champagne, and chat chat chat chat chat and finally Ray awoke (like a lumbering dinosaur, my brother, I swear) and we started opening presents. We got a very cool herb garden from the brother. It was suppsed to be a cheap option for him, but that kind of went by the wayside as the herbs kept dying on him and he had to keep buying more. Last I heard, he replanted on Christmas Eve, so now I don't feel so guilty if they have a bit of a hard time of it. :-) We got Ray a mortar and pestle, and a rice cooker. Good stuff. Mum and Dad had bought us a chrisco hamper - Mum thought she had ordered the Ready to Drink hamper, but it seems she actually got the pantry filler hamper, which so far has two boxes of Stuff(tm) and apparently might also include a roast pork, chicken, and lamb. And possibly some mince too. W00t! The boxes of stuff are lying next to the tree right now, and I want to arrange it all on my cupboard and then check the cupboard for out of date stuff before trying to stash it all away. It's not going to fit. I can tell. :-) We got Mum a shoe pendant and a bottle stopper, which is a snow globe with a reindeer in there. It's very very cute. She knew about the shoe, but didn't know about the stopper, soit was nice to surprise her. Dad got a hammer drill and tool pack. It's a boy thing so I have no details. :-) John also got him a decent drill as well though. There were also presents from various family and sundry, so there was paper EVERYWHERE! And champagne bottles. Of course.
Anyway, Ihave to stop now, John's parents are here. I'll try and remember to do the rest later.
:-)
Tally ho!
