Gah, I did very much the same thing a couple of months ago, just in different words. Some Centrelink chap took some time out of his busy day to call me to try to get out of making photocopies of some forms which they had to do in order to fix a stuff-up of theirs, because he was oh so busy and didn't have time for such trivialities, and couldn't I just fill in a fifty-page form over again to save him the trouble?
If it wasn't for I game someone who works at Centrelink, I really have thought being an absolute wanker is a job requirement. (no, hang on, my gamer buddy is a rules lawyer, so there you go - but he's a nice person otherwise).
I still remember the time when Drhoz got quite sick while I was in Japan and was off work for a couple of months because the reactive arthritis mean he couldn't walk. Once his paid sick leave ran out, he tried applying for sickness benefits. Despite me being in Japan, they refused to give it to him as we were married. The person went as far to tell him that I should quit my job in Japan and return to Australia. Never mind that this would have left me with no way of getting back to Australia (My ticket home was on condition I fulfilled the year's contract and I didn't have enough in savings for a plane ticket) or that I would have had no job upon getting home, I would be there to support Drhoz because I was his wife!
