Melbourne Cup Day is fast approaching! It's 6th of November, only a few short weeks away!
What I'd like to do this year, since I will be less than mobile, is to ask every one to bring $10 worth-ish of stuff to BBQ. I'm hoping that this way we end up with lots of yummy little things, in our favourite marinades etc. We'll get some salads organized and maybe buy a cake from the Cheesecake shop, and if course there will be champagne. This will also be a little bit of a celebration that Chesh has finished work the week before!
So, please RSVP or else there might not be enough cake! Things to bring....
- $10 worth of something to BBQ (steak, squid, prawns, scallops, lobster... *grin*)
- Drinks for yourself(ves)
- Sense of humour
I'll see if I can do some horsey stuff again. There's not much point in trying to be here for the actual race, since it's on at 11:00 our time and people always seem to still be arriving after the horses have done their stuff! So, any time after 11!

Date: 2007-10-03 01:41 am (UTC)From:Then I realised it's a Tuesday:-( So we have swimming lessons that morning:-( (Well, I love the lessons, so :-) But that it's stopping my attending:-( ) They don't finish until 1, and by the time I've had two lessons I'm _not_ up to a drive:-(
Given I was always teaching when the actual race was on, I had years of watching it videod:-) As long as people can't choose their own horse for a sweep (and they promise not to say anything if they saw it), it doesn't matter:-)

I just look for horse colouring in pictures, and stick them to random things I guess. I'll wait until after we have cleaned up outside and then think about what I'll do this year.

It should be a day off for me, since I had a transfusion this morning, but I'm slogging on. I've got over 11 000 words to go, in 13 days, so it's not impossible, but they have to be finished words, not crap.
