Yum Cha Friday - Welcome Home Willowgypsy!

Willowgypsy will be back in town, and I'm hungering for some seafood balls on the end of some sugar cane, deep fried to yummy goodness. Oh, and to welcome her home too I guess. *grin* So, who'd like to come?

Friday 12:30
Place What Used to Be Chau's Teahouse, now called Northbridge Chinese Family  Resturaunt (though if you read chinese apparently there is a "dragon" thrown in there somewhere too) . I've picked this one as it has more room between tables than the others, plus it has deep fried seafood balls on sugar cane. =-) It's on Roe street. Get off the train station, heading towards Northbridge. On the corner of William and Roe, if you are facing Northbridge, turn to your left and go down about 100 metres. It has green tiles. Let me know if you are coming so I can get a big enough table.
It will probably cost about $20 a head. Maybe $25. I can't remember. It's been a while since I have been anywhere. It might be less. Um.

Day Light Saving

I don't mind people disagreeing, and I don't mind "debate." But so far, all the people who "debate" DLS tend to be for it, and they are rude and mean about it too. Rude and mean people give me the shits and I want to beat them with a stick. Now, I have a personal belief that I am here on this planet to live, not to work, and while it's all very nice 99% of the population has been brainwashed into believing work is far more important than personal lives, I'm not into that. And I hate the way people think it's OK to be rude about it. Nyer.
:-)

Other Dreadfully Important Stuff

You know, I enjoy watering the garden. I like it. It's relaxing and calming, and gives me a chance to check out my garden, look at plants and wonder when I am supposed to pick broad beans. But it's always a bit of a pain in that we haven't invested properly in some decent gardening gear, so I end up 6 ft short of the bed that needs watering, covered with water and covered with wet dirt. Vinnie enjoys it though! Later on, I have promised myself I will investigate the hose situation, throw EVERYTHING out and invest in a single name brand of everything. Maybe then we'll end up with something like what I fantasize about. :-)

Pikelet is about 3 kilos now. S/he has switched sides, so head down and bum up still, but the spine is on the other side of my belly button. Still getting the burps and the heart burn and everything. Dreading days where there's JUST ME AND VINNIE. Thankfully, there's now only two of those. If you have nothing to do ...tomorrow.... or next Wednesday and feel like visiting me and making me a cup of tea, please let me know! I'm not hard work... and I sleep from 11 - 1... and so does Vinnie....
:-)

Um... Did I whine about yesterday? Oh. Looks like that's a yes. My eyes are much much better today (I can see after all) and all that. I'm just tired out. Pikelet is taking a lot from me. :-) I wish i could do more gardening. Oh, and Jackie French had comments about slashing legumous green manure, which I will copy out into the gardening blog later. When I get the book back from the kitchen. I have been eyeing off jicama for the garden too. The description just sounded so good.....

Please post about slashing legumes, I just chopped down (thinned out) quite a few broad beans today. I would like to know what to do now - the chickens weren't that interested!

You know, cutting them at the base might make it easier for me to harvest the things. That bending over thing is really starting to be a distant memory....

Just when I thought I was getting better , I got sick again , stupid viruses .

Yum Cha sounds good but I'll most probably be working and I have no idea who Willowgypsy is anyway.

Wow picklet sounds pretty heavy , still hoping she comes out at the start of November.

I was going to suggest that we could come to visit you on Friday... but I guess that won't work now:-)

Not sure if we'll make it to Yum cha... we'll see.

Everything on Friday is a maybe after a marathon week of interviews.

Will keep it in mind and probably make a last minute decision.

Well... Daylight Saving - I'm not a fan. Just when I get to start having the sun up when I get up in the morning, they put the clocks forward and I have to get up when it's dark again! And I end up having tea really late because I don't realise what time it is (because the sun is still up) & then I go to bed way later than I meant to!

Broad beans, eh? I thought about growing them, but I don't really know what to do with them - I don't think I've ever eaten them! I'm glad I'm not the only person that doesn't know when to pick things though...

And I hate it when the hose turns out to be too short! Personally I'm working on my retic so I don't have to bother with the hose...

There's a separate gardening blog?! I had no idea...

Oo, now that's cool!
If I suddenly get mobile enough to come, I shall bring in your gem trees.

Plus, hurry up and join grubby_nails. :-)

Broad beans - good for slashing! Plus, broad beans straight off the bush actually taste good, as opposed to whatever they do to the ones in the supermarket, or frozen. And it's heartening to have something grow so enthusiastically, unlike everything else I have planted recently!

Hot damn.

What about wednesday next week?

If s/he keeps growing at this rate, s/he will be bigger than Vinnie was...!

I have the same problem with tea... which means the kids go to bed really late, and we have to stay up even _later_ if we want some quiet time without the kids! (which makes for _really_ late nights, as we already tend towards the very late!) And then we always struggle to get up.

Plus, it's _hot_ when trying to get dinner!

Wednesday is co-op day... and I have a feeling I'm member in charge...

Cool, now I can read your secret gardening adventures :-)
And, just to keep you happy ;-), I've joined grubby_nails. Looks like fun!
I like things that grow enthusiastically! Makes you feel like you actually have some talent :-) Radishes are my favourite so far, because they came up first. Even though I don't eat them!

I was all for daylight savings until experiencing the trial last year. The last thing Perth needs is more hours of full sun in the middle of the (waking) day.

hmph. now I am anonymous too.

I'd like to keep next Friday free for Chesh and I to wander around giggling at our newfound freedom, so we'll sort something out next week between us?

Yeah, my main problem is that it ruins the dinner bbqs.
It's still too hot to go outside!

Iam watching Mancamp. I love the way they all say each other have anger management issues.

I was in love with daylight saving when i was a uni student. Now, as a parent i'm dreading it!

Tee hee, I was watching Dr Phil, too. Always sends Blinky to sleep.

Date: 2007-10-25 12:57 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] callistra.livejournal.com
Is it just me or is Mancamp the biggest set up ever??

Date: 2007-10-26 10:28 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] zey.livejournal.com
I'm in your camp on DST. Hate it. It just doesn't make any sense for Perth. Being out in the daylight in Summer for more hours (or at all) is for mad dogs and Englishmen.

The only decent argument I've seen for it anywhere (excluding reasons like "all these other places do it, so we need to") is that the mountain ranges in Sydney's West mean they get a premature sunset. So possibly it makes sense for them.

As for Perth, if people need more sunlight, they should set their own clock earlier. No need to drag the rest of us into their masochistic chronometric urges :-).

Well I just wrote a big, polite, well reasoned rant about why I really like daylight savings. Then I deleted it because I realised that I am unlikely to change people's minds because they are *my* reasons for liking it.

The ability to be rude about daylight savings preferences is not, in my experience, limited to the pro-daylight savings camp.
