So. 7:45 last night I think... hey, that feels weird. 7:55, i think ... yeah, that too. 8:08 I think... maybe I should find the folder I'm supposed to take in with me in case I go into labour. 9:00 I give up on that. 9:22 - 10ish, every 5 - 6 minutes. 10:00, drops down to 15 or so minutes. We go to bed.
I don't sleep. Eventually, I decide to time the contractions and read a book. Um. Three minutes. No book. OK. I ring the midwives, explain what's going in, and ring Mum. We're in by about 2:00? 1:30? Who knows. We put the monitors on me, baby's happy, and I'm contracting roughly every 5 minutes. Yep, cool. We run the bath and I have the longest bath in my entire life. It was awesome, and I was so relaxed all the pains went away. I still had contractions, just not painful. None of them had been really painful so far.
Eventually I was too cold, and it's about 6:30, so I get out of the bath, which means the contractions really kick in. I end up on the bed so we can do some more monitoring, and the contractions get down to a minute. And then they stop. I wake up about ten minutes later. And they don't come back! My ob comes in at about 8:30ish I think, maybe 9ish, and we have a chat. I'm about 2 centimetres dilated. I'm tired, and ready for bed. Our options are to break the waters, wait and see what happens, and if nothing happens, then induce with the drip. Or else go home, get some sleep, and let things try again later.
So, here I am, sleep deprived, and ready for bed. We'll wait and see. I might be up for weeks of potential labour pains. :-) But then again, I might be there again this afternoon.
Things I found out
- my phone doesn't have any useful numbers in it at all. None.
- It had to be yesterday as we were woefully under prepared in small ways.
- We had very little cash on us in case we needed food or drink.
Anyway, it all went off without a hitch, but also without a baby.
Tired now! Ready for bed.
:-)
Oh, and we had the same room Splanky did when having Norah!

Is Pikelet here yet?
