I didn't even get a wristband this time!

Contractions started at about 6:00 but there was just too much going on for me to bother timing etc. By the time I did, it was 8:00ish, and we started at 5 minutes, and decreased down to 3 minutes, and stayed that way for a while. At about 11 we rang the hospital, and we were in by 11:30ish. And things did progress. We're more progressed than last time in levels of pain and uncomfortableness and wandering around and pacing, but eventually everything slowed down *again.* To 10 - 15 minutes. *sigh* So, anyway, I made an executive decision. The midwife did an exam, and I am about 2 - 3 centimetres. Options included - 1)  sleeping tablets, sending every one else home, and I stay in and see Dr int he morning, and if we kick things off then every one comes back in.  I was surprised by the sleeping tablet comment, and I go "Can you do that? Does it affect the baby?" and apparently it does cross the placenta a little. But anyway, it was never an option, it's not the sort of thing I'd do. 2) Go home, go to bed, and do it all again later. So. Here I am, and I didn't even get a wristband!

The midwife did get to feel up the baby's head though, and the baby has indeed dropped, and quite firmly. Apparently they can sometimes push on the baby's head and it bobs around inside! But no, Pikelet is firmly in place and basically ready to go, but again the cervix seems to be the slow point. It's not terribly thin, and 2 - 3 centimetres is still not a lot.

So. That's it for tonight, I am off to try this sleep thing now.

Bugger! 3rd time lucky I hope.

Don't worry too much about the cervix, things can happen very quickly in that department.

Been there, done that...

I know just how frustrating and uncomfortable it can be at this point.

At least you have evidence of things moving - pikelet is ready, everything else will happen soon.

*hugs*

BTW, I meant to say congratulations to both you and John on your two big projects :) I'm glad Nightsedge went well for you.

Perhaps Pikelet has very strong opinions about astrology and numerology and wants to be born at exactly the right moment.

"Not Yet! Not Yet! Venus is still in the House of Capricorn!"

Sounds like things are all in place! Good luck to you. You won't have to do it /all/ again, happily - these bits of pre-labour help things along and do all the prep work for you :)

Ow. Still, when the child is older you can guilt it not only about how long you were in labour but the fact you had to do it three times (hopefully just three :))

poor you! hope you got some sleep... but it should all be good prep - after all this you might end up with a really short active labour. Or maybe piklet is a natural bungee-jumper...
good luck!!

Good luck! And I hate to worry you, but this new baby sounds like quite the future tease. ;)

Man that's one stubborn baby but not surprising considering its a Scorpio baby .

I drove my mum crazy by being two weeks late and then I turned up the day before my mum was going to induced , in a way I kind of feel sorry for her that she had to carry around a 8 pound nine baby .

Although she doesn't make forget how heavy I was and that she missed out on dinner .

*grin*

Given we've had a sick Puggle (violently:-( ), for purely selfish reasons I'm glad pikelet didn't come yet:-) But I'm with all the others in wishing you third time lucky:-)

Take care!

And you/your doctor is against induction because...?

Been there, done that, want to try something new.
:-)
Dr Holmes isn't against it, she just listens to what I want.

Fair enough.

I couldn't be traditionally induced with Second Ladyship due to medical reasons, so I went to a herbalist for some nasty-tasting labour tonic, and then went down the waterslide four times to induce a hindleak.

Pikelet has to be female now. Who else would change their mind so often? *grin* Good luck!
