callistra: Fuschia from Sinfest crying her heart out next to Hell's flames (b00bies!)
Now 24 hours since my call for help, and every feed has been beautiful.
:-)

I should probably point out I am hellishly stressed right now, way too much stuff going on in my life, and I don't seem to be able to discharge the stress very well. Suggestions on how to do this?

meditate, meditate, meditate... Scream into a pillow... write down what you think are your stress issues atm and show John and see if he can add just knowing what they are might help to get them fixed. Ignore well meaning folk if you don't like the advise. Stop the stress... um *runs*

Lots of good ideas here!

I'm sorry you're feeling so stressed right now. I'm no model for being able to discharge stress, and my main mode wouldn't work for you anyways :)

However I thought that with the mild weather, perhaps you + stroller plus kidlets could go for a short, rambling walk around your streets? Just enough to get outside, away from the chores and usual routine, and enjoy the sunshine and peace and quiet - along with the delighted enjoyment of childrens.

That's a good idea. I keep trying but just don't get passed some final hurdle. I'll try harder.

That could be a good idea, especially while the weather is nice.

I have a real problem with this too, but things that can work for me sometimes are: anything involving water (I especially like to meditate on things like flow and flexibility and path of least resistance when in water) and also loud music. Dancing can help too, I once did a session of a thing called Wu Tao - a dancing taichi-like meditation thing, I really liked it, keep meaning to find some more classes on it. Ritual helps me too - the banishing kind where I write down things that suck and burn or bury or otherwise destroy the list.

Yoga, balance and other gym classes sometimes help, but sometimes make me worse - but having a creche at the gym where babies can go for an hour is definitely a de-stresser - even if I don't end up exercising.

I was thinking of trying some yoga, I think Vinnie will want to do it with me *grin*

Gin and fantasizing about axe-wielding killing sprees got me through a tough patch last year, but I don't recommend it as a long term solution.

Besides, I don't think Jack likes the hang overs!

My job is quiet stressful and the only way I can burn of the stress is 20min on a cross trainer 3 times a week. When you get stressed your body dumps adrenalin into your system. you have to burn of that adrenaline somehow. I tried lavender oil, showers at 0200 in the morning, warm baths with Baileys. After getting tired of waking up and crying from stress, I gave in and got a gym membership and it is the best thing I ever did.

I'd love to, but with Jack feeding sometimes hourly, I have trouble getting out of the house. Right now I can't allocate that much time. Also, I live in an area where the gyms are pretty awful and most of them don't have creches. I miss a decent gym!

If you are lucky enough to have a bath, treat yourself to a bubble bath. Ours is crap and has a catbox in it so I find screaming or just having a really good cry can help - especially when I want a bath and take one look at it. : )

Look at each of the items of stuff in your life and their advantages and disadvantages. Try to maximise the good and minimise the bad, one thing at a time.

Violence against soft furnishings is always popular, and don't begrudge yourself sleep. Ignore me at will :-)

HTH *hugs*

My life is good, it's outside stuff that's causing the stress. The thing with Jack is the only thing I have the illusion of control with!
:-)

:-)
Jack woke once at 3:30 for a feed, and then slept until 7:30. That's the best night's sleep we've had in a week.

Being in a darkened room with a big cushion, my favourite songs playing and a cold drink to sip at verrrry slooooowly helps me a lot.
