Wow, we hacked and we slashed and we destroyed. My roses got a much needed pruning, and we were delighted to discover some of the plants on the side of our house had died. Yay! Now I'm going to pay a strapping young man to help remove the corpses. *grin* Thanks thanks thanks and more thanks to Dragonchrome and Cheshirenoir for their fantastic efforts, it made me feel like I wasn't doing it all alone, and between the three of us I swear we got about six times further than I really expected us to!
Things we did: the palm tree was denuded of sick and dead palm leaves, the palm leaves chopped into three (everything had to be at max 1.5m) and then arranged neatly at the beginning of the pile on the front verge. Collection day is in a few days. :-) There were a lot of palm leaves. I'm so happy now; you can stand under the palm tree and not be slightly bent over. I also hacked at the orange tree and now you can walk down to the far fence, which is fantastic. Tree limbs also trucked out the front and stacked. The roses got a much needed hack and slash, and yes, I know I'm a few weeks out of date for that but tough. You get that. The trees around the roses got hacked and slashed. The gooseberry plant finally died, so I ripped out it's corpse, and stacked. We went to bunnings and bought a saw onna stick for john, so he hacked and slashed at trees and stuff which had previously been too high to get to. And then we had to hack and slash them into bits so they make the 1.5 metre rule. :-) I'm so so so happy, you can now walk down the side of our house and not be bitten by roses, swiped by rubber trees, attacked by gooseberry corpses, and be able walk all the way down to the shed and then to the back fence without a single branch or tree in the way of the path. PLUSSSSSS..... we also cleaned up under the patio, cleaned up bags of rubbish from up to two years old, threw out more rubbish, dragonchrome swept up the knee high leaves and put them into the fernery for us, we cleared out some of the old boxes, dead plants, old baskets, old pots, meat wrappers that never quite made it into the bins, waterlogged matches, equally waterlogged snail pellets, more dead snail pellets, old fairy lights and more. I stand in awe at the amazing job that the three of us have done.
Other reasons why I'm so happy to have had help - I was planning neatening the garden up for my 30th in december, so I knew I had to start around nowish anyway. Plus, I *am* going to sell Lingerie, and I'm going to invite John's bosses' wife, PLUS the company owner's wife TOO to mu launch party on the 14th, so I want the house to be SPAMTASTICALLY perfect. I'm thinking of opening the side gate and making people come down there if I get the gardens finished, which includes flowers and general happy plants. So, there will be much outside entertaining this year because the place looks damned amazing. Oh, and you have to see our guttering *snort* it's funny. :-)
Oh, and if you're in Perth, come to my place on the 14th at 3:30. Girls will be staying for the lingerie, and the boys will be exiled to the Elizabethan Pub for a few hours, and after that Chesh and I will be doing BBQ or a Weber or something which involves little work, good food, and much drinking.
Ooo, I've been sitting here long enough that I've started to stiffen up, and I can feel the beginnings of little cuts and scrapes I have given myself during the prunings of rose bushes and the draggings of the sharper ends of palm fronds.
:-)
YAY!!!

I think I have about 6 or 7 parties lined up, but I need 10! But this is a larger start up cost than Tupperware. I'd better do this for longer so I can make more money! Although I did do tupperware for about 5 or 6 months. This is looking like heaps and heaps of fun!
Yay lingerie! The worst thing about being sick is that I couldn't sleep and all I could think about was intimo intimo intimo intimo *ack!* Thankfully I'm better enough that I can think about other things again.
