While I am bumming around thinking frugal thoughts, feebeez says it's meal planning Monday. So... my mealplan for the week.

Monday - Family Dinner - roast pork and vegies
Tuesday - Chicken Casserole of some sort
Wednesday - Jack's Birthday - Spaghetti Bolognaise with hand made spaghetti
Thursday - Chicken and Mango stirfry
Friday - Bulgogi
Saturday - chili con carne or takeaway
Sunday - Jack's Birthday Party - plan to eat too much during the day.

I suck at meal planning. I might just use yours from now on. Can we have quiche next week? And maybe mexican crepes :)

We had a similar set-up at a Japanese friend's house one time - she made a platter of sushi ingredients (rice, various sushimi or smoked salmon, cucumber, avocado, pickled ginger etc) which we composed into little squares of seaweed (the normal-sized seaweed cut into quarters).

yummy :)

C. has just suggested that we try planning meals for a week. Nice of him to volunteer - I reckon it's cos he read this post =)

Also, I especially like your plan for Sunday! I keep meaning to schedule some fun activities...

LOL
Meal planning is fun.
And yes, you can concentrate on a single aspect (health, finances, flavours) and learn or challenge heaps about your own habits and preferences.

*nod*

Our current system is something along the lines of "I buy repeat items plus whatever's on the shopping list (mostly things that have or are about to run out, but a few items J's added for specific recipes in the next day or two), plus some 'random protein' if I get around to it," then J cooks meals that can be prepared from what we have at home, or we supplement home cooked rice+vegies with takeaway. It mostly works :)

Icecream time!
