Nanowrimo

Thanks to cassiphone , I have been made aware of people who write a LOT. Like, a LOT A LOT A LOT. Like... 36,000 in ONE DAY.

And, reading this chickie's hints and tips ... there's people out there who do Nanowrimo in Day One. Let me think about this for a minute. Day One. Fifty thousand words.

Say... 7.5 hours.

Which is 450 minutes.

So you'd need to type...

111.11 words a minute.

I know someone who types that fast.....

mynxii , you doing anything tomorrow?? Got a spare 7.5 hours to spare??

At the rate I type, I could crank out 50,000 words in just under 24 hours. Of course, that doesn't allow for food, bathroom breaks, or the inevitable pauses to get distracted by the Internet, but whatever. Sometimes, you just have to sit in a chair for 24 hours solid and type with crazed abandon.

Or you could bribe mynxii. Whichever. ;)

This is where it gets ridiculous. Writing 50,000 words in a day is not the big achievement. Selling it is.

I just read the post and I'm appalled. This person talks about putting down anything that comes to your head and not editing or using backspace or anything.

That's not writing a novel, that's writing drivel. Nanowrimo is national NOVEL writing month, not put down any crap and call it writing month.

I also look at their manic life style and the term 'bipolar' comes to mind.

Yep, completely insane. I worry about quality of life for my family when doing it in a month! Obviously she has other people to shove food under the door and make sure she washes occasionally. And to stop her from walking into poles.
