I am working on my winter vegie patch. What should I grow, o collective brain? What shall I grow?

I want to grow potatoes, but I am hesitant. I would love to try the tyre thing, where you keep adding tyres. I've heard that they poison the ground though, so you can't grow anything after wards, but I am not sure if that is a myth or not. But yes, I want to grow potatoes. I want to grow a lot of potatoes! :-)

If there is a problem with poisoning the ground, I dare say it would take a very long time for the effect to occur. Would say a protective layer tarpaulin or some such thing help reduce potential poisoning?

I had a quick chat with Chesh, and we'll be using the no-dig system again, so I guess every time we build it up for the new garden, we're putting in new compost and manure and everything, so perhaps it won't be a problem.

I love gardening, but don't have the time or inclination for it atm.

Have started my bonzai and my orchid collection so it will slowly build momentum.

My folks have awesome soil at their place, when we grew sweet potatoes we often got tubers that you needed both hands to hold them.

*daydreams of giant tubas* (pun intended)

I have sweet potatoes still growing. At least, I apparently have not killed the fuckers from last time I grew them.
:-)
I love sweet potatoes too. I am hoping when i dig them up again there will be big fat ones this year instead of last year's efforts.

Actually, my neighbour has that covered, and I have permission to nip next door and steal as much green leafy things that go into a wok as I like.
