I've just actually read what Caitlin has been on about with this NanoWrimo thing.
Basics: It's a challenge to you to write a 50,000 word novel within the month of November. The FAQs are funny.

I'm thinking about it, but we will need to organize a nanowrimo end party, where we can get trashed and then each read selected parts from our 50,000 words of trash.... So, any one interested in playing this game? *grin*

alas, i've never repeated the fact *wails*

But its all good fun. An the oznano list is a hoot!

So is that a Yes from you?

Woooo! The challenge has begun! Who else do we know we can sucker into this? Ju?

*grin*

I should give Lee and Lyn the hass as well.
:-)

Cait runs the oznano list

Lyn and Lee, definitely

Can we drag Chesh into it?

We need to get agroup up so when we party at the ned of the month, we can make up out of the printed manuscripts lines of nano-style prayer flags :)

I was having bad ideas on the way home about this to get the group feeling going - things like opening it up to my friends lists to get a plot/story line, or even going as far as all of us in our group having the same story line to play with hehh heh
:-)

do it as a challenge - we all have to start with the same idea/concept/first line, then see how we digress from there?

So, what about the opening line of

"I awoke naked, chained to a rock."

Date: 2004-09-27 04:24 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] akire-yta.livejournal.com
I tihnk we should make it either "I" or "We", but yes ;)

I would but I'm a pretty crap writer and I need more practice .

Ken is a pretty good writer though.

thats the point. doesn't matter if you're good bad or indifferent. the focus is not the quality, its the wordcount!

Date: 2004-09-20 01:25 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] callistra.livejournal.com
Yah. See what she said.

Quantity over Quality in this instance. DO IT!
:-)

Come one, we can have secret posts to each other as we giggle with delight at how crap our writing is. *grin*

Ummm...maybe :)

I would like to play, after all, I really need some kind of kick to get going :)

I will give a tentative commitment to it :D

Wooooo! Yay!!

:-)

Do you have a plot already?
*grin*

This is going to rock. Maybe we should make it a picnic and we all lie in the su and read our best paragraphs. Or, depending on how crap we are, best sentences. *grin*

This is going to be so cool!
:-)

Plots are never a problem :D

Incentive and time are what I seem to be short of.

I think I know which story I will pick up though. It's been languishing for a couple of years and I always thought it would be around 50K so it would probably be perfect for the exercise.

Yay! Do you like the picnic idea for lazing in the sun and read parts of our trashy novels? Or else we'll have a BBQ here, since there's a pool, and we cam dump the kids into it and then have a few drinks.

Lazing around sounds good :) But then so does dumping kids and having drinks ;P

I'll happily go with the flow :)

hmmm... thinking about it...

Yes! Do it!
Give you something to do at home for a bit! :-)

Quite probable I will lose 11 days to a mushy brain and then only be able to write horridly smooshy stuff...Still thinking about it :)

Date: 2004-09-27 02:12 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] callistra.livejournal.com
Nothing wrong with smooshy stuff! Just anything!
