callistra: Fuschia from Sinfest crying her heart out next to Hell's flames (b00bies!)

I just find myself today a bit weirded out by the fact that on my next financial calendar (printed out, written the dates on each day, written in Paydays, and up and coming social events) I should be writing "Baby Due." It's like.... even the wedding wasn't like this. The wedding would not change our lives the same way, I guess. Things that do change your life irrevocably usually don't have a due date. So the whole count down thing is just ... disconcerting. Weird. Do I write down "Baby Due?" Ot just sort of remember? Like I could forget. :-) Do I plan to do nothing for the month around the due date? Do I start a birth day pool, $5 a day? Winner gets 75%, I get the rest for all the hard work?? *grin*

I want to plan to do some cake decorating courses, some bread making courses, and even to go window shopping in specialist cooking and cake making shops. I have strangers visiting me tomorrow, and on Thursday I might be meeting more strangers. Kind of scary, since I'm really not in a meeting-strangers type of mood, haven't been in months, and now two meetings in a week. The Thursday one is a bunch of mum and almost mums from the baby forums I'm in. 25,000 men and women, some of them had to be in the Armadale area. :-)

My bank is annoying me again. This is annoyance in potentia though. So... not really annoyance, just getting ready to be annoyed....? The problem: their payment system for the Visa. On Friday, about $2,000 appeared on the statement for the visa, as having been deposited. That's cool, it's due to pay out today. So, it's appeared on the online list for three days, but has not yet affected the balance on the CC, so it still says there is only $80 of credit available. This month I have been sooooooo careful with our CC because of an imbalance between last month and this month. This is as of this morning, after 11:47 (That's when I got out of bed, after all.) I'm happy. The fact the money seems to be in but it not in happens every month. I've told them before how stupid this was, especially since sometimes the CC gets paid off several days before the money leaves the actual cash account, which gives me several days to withdraw the $2000 the bank is moving around.... and had bank staff agree that was "not good."

Anyway, between this morning's log in, and this afternoon's login, something has debited my CC enough so we are over the limit. The only thing due to come in that is automatic is $81.32. I had $80 available. I moved $10 over. No change. I try another $10. I'm kind of pissed, because in terms of sydney time, it's now passed the EOD, so my money should really be there and this is not an issue. If they charge me $25 for "being over the limit" I will scream. The extra $20 has made no difference. Now, I just have to wait and see if I get to be annoyed or not.... grrrrr!

On to better things! The lovely [livejournal.com profile] kaelajael has given me her recipe for Vanilla slice, which I have heard is the best recipe in the universe. I mentioned this to a couple of people (Mum, Chesh...) and they all wanted me to make it NOW. I dodged and ducked a bit - it would have required cleaning the kitchen, and then realised that when [livejournal.com profile] lucretiae had cooked for us on saturday night, she had used egg whites and left some yolks in the fridge. The recipe needs extra yolks but no whites. My resistance is rapidly diminishing. I hate wasting things. I already have every other ingredient I need. I have given in. The kitchen is clean, and after my shower, I will be making Vanilla Slice. *grin*

Saturday night rocked. [livejournal.com profile] lucretiae cooked up some fantastic food for us! She made sweet and sour prawns, and while they weren't very sweet and sour, the recipe was pretty damned awesome anyway! And she cooked a whole kilo of prawns between five of us! I felt like a big fat glutton. The vegies were yummy too, and Sheldon brought snacky things (he always brings the ones with the little fishies. WTF? I mean, I like them and all, but every single time? :-) Is he trying to feed me extra omega cos he knows I am probably not getting enough fish? *grin*) MG got drunk. She slept the night in the nursery in the spare bed. I hope she was warm!! I failed to sleep well and was not good the next day.

Vegie start tally - I think I ruined Chesh's shopping experience cos he was so worried about me being sleep deprived that he couldn't concentrate too well on the task at hand. We had requests for "staples" and that's what we came back with. Nothing too exciting, but we'll all be well fed with winter style foods. Each share contained:

4 kilos of onions.
2 kilos of potatoes.
500g sweet potatoes.
2 leeks
Half a packet (I think) of single clove garlic.
Stir fry aisan veg
Kilos of tomatoes. Can't remember how much. But heapses.
Heaps of apples, granny smiths and also fuji.
Apple cucumbers (big fat ones!)

So, not as exciting as some weeks, (which is my fault) but all good stuff which should last for a bit. Especially the potatoes and onions. *grin*

Oh, and shall we have a baby pool?
$5? or $2? Or no money at all? (Which would be no fun. We need a small bet...)

Its nice when someone cooks for you. If I cooked for anyone, ever, I think hell would freeze over.

Next time you'll have to join us and I'll do an all vegie night. Actually Matt was supposed to be the cook but he had to be down the farm so I got to cook instead. Not that I mind cooking but I'm not as good as him and it *is* nice when someone cooks for you. He does that a lot at home actually (yes, he's kinda moved in) but I still never get tired of it :-)
