my best advice as a layperson who has had lots of breeding pets and has spent a good deal of time living on a farm is *try to not interfere in any way* in my experience any intervention seems to have resulted in a less than desired outcome, even when it seemed logical and well intentioned (hmm, I'm starting to see where my choice for home birth is coming from :) ).
although it looks like they are already big and fluffy and past the probable intervention stage anyway :)
