callistra: Fuschia from Sinfest crying her heart out next to Hell's flames (Default)
Jack lost 140 grams between fortnightly weigh-ins last Tuesday. I've been pretty stressed and frazzled trying to ensure he's feeding enough since then. I just don't know what's wrong, and he's crying and screaming and carrying on during feeds. WE think he might be teething (already??) so have used a tiny bit of bonjella occasionally when he's really screaming the house down, and it seems to help. This is just so frustrating! He feeds fine during the night. During the day however... sometimes he's fine, sometimes he sucks for 2 minutes and then starts crying and sometimes screaming, and it's a complete guess as to what's wrong. We're burping him often, and sometimes that helps.

I'm just worried that he is still losing weight and I don't know what else to do. And I bet that if I feed in front of someone who could help, it will be a perfect feed. *sigh* He still has rolls and is a little chubby, so I'm not worried he's starving to death yet. He's very gorgeous and talks to people and laughs and grins and smiles. He has two cute dimples and blue eyes.

All the positions we used to use are no longer favoured. I can go through up to six positions (three for each side) before we either find something that 'works' or that we stop and have a break because his screaming is stressing me out. I locked Vinnie into his room for ten minutes the other day so I could get Jack to calm down and feed, and of course he did so and then went to sleep. Once I get Jack to sleep  he often doesn't stay asleep! It's always a tossup when he's screaming as to whether he needs a burp or sleep. When he sleeps I worry he should have fed more, and when he needs to burp I never seem to be able to do it properly.

It's been about four hours since I last bonjellad him and he's having problems sleeping again.
:-(

I'll be around tomorrow, as planned, and can spend some time with you and Jack, see if I can pick anything obvious going on. Hang in there!

Thank you, I was hoping you'd help *again!*

I'd offer to help as well hon, except I'm stuck at work! And tonight my family are coming over, though you are quite welcome to drop by if you want - my mum will happily take him off you for a little while and Vinnie can play with Zaccy! :)

On a complete side note, your wine has arrived which is my next excuse to see you!

*lots of love and hugs*

Thanks hun, really I just need some practical advice about the breastfeeding thing. Everything else is going brilliantly!
:-)
Yay wine!
I would love for Vinnie to meet Zaccy

Reading that it reminds me of how Norah used to be when she fed. That was reflux. It was picked up when we did a day stay at Ngala. If chaosmanor can't see anything obvious maybe that's something you could consider.

what did you do about the reflux? I was pretty convinced baby_b had it, but couldn't find a solution until she grew out of it on her own really. too late for us now, but just cataloging info for the next one :)

I had her sleep on a slight slope with her head up, but I don't think that did much good. I gave her Losec tablets dissolved in water a couple of times a day. Tried her on something not as strong, but that didn't seem to work. Norah grew out of it on her own as well, at about six months when she started to sit up.

Jules had it too...I tried lots of stuff, none of which worked for Jules. She turned the corner at 6 months, and I reckon that it coincided with her starting solids (rice cereal only at that point). If I had my time again, I would have given her solids at a much younger age, despite all the advice you get not to.

No particular help:-( But I'll be thinking about you. He's old enough for teeth, so hopefully that's it:-)

If you need a chat, let me know:-)

I can come up to the house on a couple of evenings or on the weekend here and there to help out and just be there if you like?

*love*

I'm sorry things are stressful and that you're having a hard time - hopefully [livejournal.com profile] chaosmanor will be able to help or that it is teething...
