StephiePenguin's Questions
What is your very favourite thing to cook? I gotta admit to a real pleasure to cooking stir fries in my wok.
What is something you wish was growing in your garden right now but isn't? Chickens!Do you know what you would be doing if you weren't a stay at home mum? Honestly, no idea. I was working in IT, and then got outsourced. They offered me a job, but I knew that stress is not good for conception, so turned it down. Six months later we conceived Shark Bait. I started selling lingerie (which I am doing again now) but it's not a full time sort of thing. It could be, I suppose, I'm pretty good at it when I want to be. If we hadn't conceived, eventually I would have had to think about what to do with my time, and I have no idea whether I would have wanted to return to IT, find something completely new, turned to reception work, gone to temping, or tried to talk Chesh into keeping me as a kept woman.
Three is a good number, this close to the new year Yes, it is. I usually like to have a haircut before the Chinese New Year, and have my fortune told. This year I've been a bit leery of going out, but we got Shark Bait's hair done in time. :-)
Babalon_93's Questions
What con panel would you most like to be on (regardless of current knowledge/qualification)? What I Did When My Novel Made A Million Dollars Panel
Tell me about a time when one (or both) of your children has really impressed you. Shark Bait's incredible manners. Today, for example, he got given a soft toy tiger, and went around showing it to every strange adult we passed, and he said Hello and Thank you and Good bye and was just a delight to see in action. I also thanked him for something today, and his little voice saying "You're Welcome" as he grinned at me is enough to make me cry. Small Fry impresses me with just how fast he is on the uptake, how well he communicates with us already, and how he loves to order us about and tell us off if we're naughty. There was a specific something I wanted to tell you but I can't remember what it was!
Which is your favourite piece of lingerie/corsetry? Well, that photo of me on facebook? That corset was purple satin with metal boning. K got B to file the edges of saws to make the boning for that corset, and then bend them into shape before making the corset around it. I wore it to death and it was just stunning. I literally wore it to death - it's been re-made about three times now? K refuses to put metal boning in it any more, and I don't think there is a single peice of boning, thread, or material, that was part of the original. :-)
Is there a genre that you would really like to write in but haven't tried yet? If so what and why? I want to try an action novel. I did a workshop and really enjoyed the voice exercises we did, and want to explore that some more. I want to try a science fiction novel, but I am not in love with concepts, I rather like characters, which seems to be a bit of a divide.
Who, (currently living, previously living, or fictional) would you most like to have as a mentor? Gosh this one is hard. I am still not sure. Mind you, I just realised that when you say "mentor" you could mean any sort of mentor at all, whereas I instantly assumed "writing mentor" LOL I still don't know. I've been trying to think of an answer for two hours now. I give in. Who would you suggest?
