In other words, I already know your language. Maybe you should try to learn mine.

Fandom is more than just writers and hopeful writers these days.

It always has been. In fact, the writers and hopeful writers trend is a fairly recent one, I think (much in evidence at East coast cons like Conjure and Conflux).
