As far as I have noticed, there are two types of Will. First, what do I mean by Will? Will is that nameless force by which we make decisions, reach out to grasp a cup of coffee, buy something, brush your hair before going out, purchase a house. Will is inherent in all these things. Will is the mental drive behind any action we take.
There are two types of Will, the Lesser Will and the Greater Will.
The Lesser Will really can be seen as a lower level of engagement between the universe and yourself, in terms of grabbing that cup of coffee, making that cup of coffee, drinking that cup of coffee. I would also like to point out right now that this is all subjective, and my own theories anyways. The reason I point this out is because I can see where getting, drinking and making a cup of coffee for a car accident victim would in fact be an engagement of the Greater Will. However, for current purposes, we'll consider Lesser Will to consist of the every day things which many people do not believe actually constitute a choice in their own lives. So, to re-iterate, Lesser Will is a choice whereby you do not believe you make a choice.
The Greater Will is an engagement of self, universe, and the energies towards a self determined goal. For example, in a coven, it might be an act of putting out more healing into the world. For a company, it might be taking over the next company in line. It might be the paraplegic who is determined to make, grab, and drink that coffee, even with only one working finger and thumb. Greater Will is an engagement between you and your life. Greater Will is when you make your own choices, and live by them. Greater Will can be used by any one, but I don't think many people understand it. (One of the reasons why I am writing this diatribe is because my Greater Will isn't dis-engaging right now. And because I'm not sleeping, I have a lot of time to think about lingerie. Last night in my dreams, one of the ladies was wearing one of the items in my catalogues. No idea what she looked like, but the slip fitted her perfectly. :-) Greater Will can and should be used in every day decisions - it would certainly make life more hellish for our pollies! Greater Will means questions questions questions, considering the answers, considering the questions and then acting. It means knowing yourself and how you work so you can apply leverage to yourself to get the things that you want. It means questioning where those desires come from so that when you engage the Greater Will to get them, you know how to make it happen!
A wise man once said "You rise to the level of your incompetence." I've been thinking about that a lot, because included in "incompetence" is the inherent realisation that most people have bosses. And when you have a boss, you're often limited in your own actions by them, by their boss, by the company's policies... and people blame their bosses and companies for not giving them the things they want, and yet.... it's their incompetence which means they cannot see that theyare only ever limited by themselves. People use the Lesser Will (coasting, basically) in their lives, they get a job because it's expected, they go to uni, cos it's expected, they have a boss, and that's expected, they draw a pay packet, that's expected.... To engage the Greater Will, you need to stop your every day rut and think about it. What do you want? You can't engage your Greater Will until you have a goal to work towards! How can you be rich and wealthy if you don't know what rich and wealthy is???? and the answer is different for every one!
The paraplegic and their cup of coffee has a clear, solid, concisely defined goal. They WILL make a cup of coffee, take it, and drink it. They can see it happening in their minds. They can visualise it, and they know it will happen. A dr comes in and says "You gave a 5% chance you'll do that." Int his instance, he's playing a number's game. The patient, however, knows that this means that it's possible. And even if the Dr said it was not, there's always time for miracles. Life itself is miraculous enough, and when we engage the Greater Will, anything can happen, and does. So many people today have such vague goals. "I'm gonna be rich." Yep, cool. Define rich. "... lots of money." To Pairs Hilton, $1,000,000 is nothing. To me, I'd consider that pretty damned wealthy. I'd certainly ask for it's phone number!!
I don't think this rant is complete, but tough for now. If I re-work it, I'll post it up again.
